Myrtle Elizabeth Warner was born on 18 April 1927 in Montrose, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. She and Paul Robins Carlson were married on 5 August 1950 in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.1 She died on 9 June 2013, at age 86, in Montrose, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. She was buried in South Montrose Cemetery, South Montrose, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.
Myrtle Elizabeth Warner was a Utilization Review Coordinator-Flushing Hospital.2,3 She was educated Queens University/ University of Pittsburgh. She was awarded a BA- Sociology/Psychology. Myrtle W. Carlson, 86, of Montrose, Pa., passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her home.

Born April 18, 1927, in Montrose, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Earl Arland and Emmagene I. (Manning) Warner. Myrtle retired in 1978 as the utilization review coordinator of Flushing Hospital, a 420-bed community hospital in Flushing, N.Y. She earlier served as the secretary of the dean of the School of Law of the University of Pittsburgh, and as a cartographic draftsman for the U.S. Army Map Service in Providence, R.I. Before marriage, she was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Assistance in Montrose. For more than 40 years, Mrs. Carlson was actively involved in the work of her husband, the Rev. Dr. Paul R. Carlson, a Presbyterian minister. They were married Aug. 5, 1950, in Bridgewater Baptist Church in Montrose.

Mrs. Carlson, served as the regent of the Montrose Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also participated in DAR activties at the state and national levels. A highlight of her DAR membership came in 2005, when she was named winner of the organization's National Essay Contest. The prize was based on her essay of Sargeant Elijah Whiting, her forbear and Revolutionary War patriot through whose service she became eligible for DAR membership.

She was a life member of Hadassah, the international women's Zionist organization, and was active with her husband, including during his tenure as executive director of the United Church of Northeastern Pa.

A 1945 graduate of Montrose High School, Mrs. Carlson received her Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude with a double major in sociology and psychology from Queens University, Flushing, N.Y. She also attended Providence Bible Institute, Providence, R.I., Dutchess Community College, Pughkeepsie, N.Y., and the University of Pittsburgh. She was an accredited medical records technician (ART).

Survivors include her loving husband, the Rev. Dr. Paul R. Carlson, Ed.D., of Montrose; sons and daughers-in-law, Paul Robins Carlson Jr., PhD., and Laura Anne Yarbro, Ph.D., of St. Petersburg, Fla.; Timothy Eric and Elizabeth Carlson of New Rochelle, N.Y.; grandsons, Daniel Frazier Carlson, Ph.D., of Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Isreal; Aaron Manning Carlson, M.D., of Cedar Sinai Hospital, Los Angeles; sister, Helen Warner Myers of Montrose; nieces, Elizabeth Janoski, Laurel Canfield and Karen Franks; and a nephew, Russell Breeze.

Besdies her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Alice Warner Lloyd.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose.

Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.
