Paul M. Lillie, 83, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at Castle Gardens in Vestal. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy R. Lillie; three daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Gary Knewasser, Vestal, Diane Whipple, Vestal, and Janice and Ron Rockefeller, Surprise, Ariz.; five grandchildren and their spouses, Mike and Lisa Knewasser, Scott and Stephanie Knewasser, Jim Morris, Carrie Aldrich and Wendy and Andy Stockman; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Lillie, Endicott; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Pete and Peggy Hover, Detroit, Mich., Roger Lillie, Endicott; sister-in-law, June Lacey, Moravia, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles; and close friend, Gary Aldrich. Paul was a member of Vestal United Methodist Church. He worked at IBM and also for the Vestal Police Department, where he retired from after 26 years of service. He was a WWII Veteran, serving with the U.S. Army, and was a member of American Legion Post 89, Vestal, and V.F.W. Post 8808, Vestal. Paul was a member and past President of both the Vestal Police P.B.A. and the Vestal Senior Citizens. He was also a member of Vestal Volunteer Fire Co. #1, and the Endicott Elks #1977. Paul enjoyed bowling, softball and deer hunting.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St. Endicott. Rev. Mary Ricketts, co-pastor of his church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home on Tuesday from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Paul's memory may be made to the Memorial Fund at Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St. Vestal, N.Y. 13850; or to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Vestal Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850.
