Ann McGovern Suydam of Suydam Farms, Somerset, NJ passed away at her home on November 1, 2016. Ann was 85 years young at the time of her passing.
Born Ann Elizabeth McGovern on November 13, 1930 in New Brunswick, NJ, Ann was graduated from New Brunswick High School with the class of 1948 and remained an active member of her reunion committee for more than 60 years. Traveling to Terra Haute, Indiana, she was a graduate of St. Mary of the Woods College for Women in 1952.
On November 8, 1953, Ann married Abram J. Suydam, Jr. of Suydam Farms and together raised three children, Robin, Sally and Ryck. They remained on the farm for the beautiful long length of their marriage, almost 64 years. Ann was an active preservationist in her community and served as a founding member of the Blackwells Mills Canal Association, the Meadows Foundation and the Raritan Millstone Heritage Alliance. Ann was a member of the parish of St. Augustine of Canterbury in Kendall Park.
She was predeceased by her parents, Elvera and Joseph McGovern; brother, Joseph McGovern; sister, Patricia McGovern Greeley; daughter, Susan Suydam, daughter, Sally Suydam; and her husband, Abram J. Suydam, Jr. Ann is survived by her daughter, Robin Suydam; son-in-law, Paul Corkery; her son, Ryck Suydam and his fiancee, Catherine Nicola; her grandchildren, Matthew, Jenna, J Paul, and Lucas Suydam; and many loving nieces and nephews.
A private communion and memorial service was held at the Suydam's family. Arrangements were under the direction of the Quackenboss Funeral Home, New Brunswick, NJ.
