Biography

Samuel (Sam) Len Oliver was born on 25 February 1956 in Burlington, Des Moines, Iowa.1 He died on 18 December 2006, at age 50, Cremated.1
Samuel (Sam) Len Oliver was educated Quincy Techical College.2 He was a Burlington Northern Railroad Employee/ Mayor -Mount Union.2 Samuel Len Oliver, 50, of Mount Union, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2006, at his daughter's home surrounded by loved ones.

Born Feb. 25, 1956, in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Glen Dale Oliver and Mary Lou (Harris) Oliver. He was a graduate of New London High School and then later Quincy Technical College. He married Robin Irene Wesbrook on Nov. 19, 1977. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for over 26 years. He was also the mayor of Mount Union for eight years and a member of the New London Masonic Lodge for a number of years.

He enjoyed life, loved his family, taking rides on his Harley, gardening and watching sports. Sam had a great sense of humor and a story for all. He also loved camping with his wife and daughters.

His fifty years of life were shared with the laughter of his wife and his two daughters. He is survived by his wife; daughters, Kimberly Ann and Stephanie Jo; his mother; two brothers, David Mitchell Oliver and Jonathan Dale Oliver; and his two sisters, Mary Pamela Johnson and Marketa Sue George Oliver, who will all miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his father.

There will be a memorial service at the Mount Union Community Hall on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Sam's name to the MDA for research and treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease).
