3 A. Geneva Greenfield, 87, of Douds, died at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in the emergency room of Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.
Mrs. Greenfield was born Dec. 7, 1916, south of Mount Pleasant, the daughter of John and Hazel Short Cooper.
She married Cyrus H. Greenfield Sept. 18, 1938, in Kahoka, Mo. He died in 1992.
After graduating from Douds High School and attending Parsons College, she taught at Red Oak rural school east of Douds and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and John Hyson Reneker Unit 494 American Legion Auxiliary, all in Douds.
Survivors include one daughter, Sondra Smith of Douds; five sons, James Greenfield of Indianola, Richard Greenfield of Fairfield, William Greenfield of Davenport, and Dwain and Michael Greenfield, both of Douds; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Heaton of Redwood Falls, Minn; and one brother, John Cooper of Whitney, Texas.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter, Cynthia; and one brother, Virgil Cooper.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds, with the Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds.
Open visitation begins at 2 p.m. today and Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds; family will be present 7-8 p.m. both days.
Memorials to Christ United Methodist Church, Douds First Responders or Zion Lutheran Cemetery may be left at the funeral home.
