Barbara J. Wintermute, 59, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004, at Fort Memorial Hospital. The former Barbara Shaw was born on May 26, 1944, in Fort Atkinson, daughter of the late Charles and Elaine (Dahnke) Shaw. On June 26, 1968 *, she married Dean Hallie Wintermute.

A graduate of Fort Atkinson High School, Mrs. Wintermute had been employed at the former Moore Seafood and Larsen's Canning Co. She was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband, Dean; two daughters, Victoria (Gary) Teubert and Deborah (Timothy) Miller, bother of Fort Atkinson; two grandchildren, Ashley and Melissa Kosloski; two stepgrandchildren, Jaleesa and Jefferey Larson; two brothers, Dennis (Betsey) Shaw of Burlington, Ill., and Gregory Shaw of South Beloit; two sisters, Susan (Loren) Thompson of Reeds Spring, Mo., and Carol Taylor of Rockford, Ill., and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael D. Duncan officiating. Following creamation, interment will take place in Hebron Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call to pay their respects at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of service. Dunlap Memorial Home is assisting the family.

John R. Wintermute, 56, of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin passed away on Friday, June 4, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

John was born on June 21, 1953, in Whitewater, son of the late Hallie and Eva (Harris) Wintermute. He lived in Hebron until he married Rebecca Wolfram on June 30, 1973, in Fort Atkinson.

John was a very outgoing man. He would, could and did talk to everyone he met. He loved people.

He was a fan of John Deere tractors, Harley-Davidson motorcycles and SciFi movies. He also enjoyed driving his Firebird Convertible and riding his Harley.

John started his young life by working at Thomas Industries, Nasco Inc., and spent the last 19 years at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Residence Life where he fullfilled his dream of taking care of and helping young people. He became a devoted christian and was a member of Fort Christian Assembly Church.

John is survived by his wife, Becky; children, Chad (Tamera) and Marc Wintermute, both of Fort Atkinson; adopted son, Daniel Davis (Cindy) of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, David and Kayla Wintermute; brothers, Jim (Linda) Wintermute of Fort Atkinson, Dean Wintermute of Hebron; his sister, Betty Hodyniak of Loves Park, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by his brother Stanley.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at the Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson with Pastor Don Seeman officiating.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the memorial home until the time of service. Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery.

Stanley W. Wintermute, 69, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at his home, with his loving wife Barbara at his side.

He was born in Palmyra on Feb. 5, 1940, the son of Halsey and Eva (Harris) Wintermute. He married Barbara L. Becker on Jan. 19, 1996.

Stanley had been employed at Thomas Industries in Fort Atkinson until its closing. Later he was employed as a machinist at D J & R Manufacturing in Helenville, retiring in 2005.

Stanley was a long-time member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post of Fort Atkinson.

He was a winning tractor puller in the early 1960s, a collector of toy tractors, a John Deere enthusiast and avid Cubs fan.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Barbara; stepchildren, Geri Lodl, Debra (Jeff) Boos, Dan Langholff, Gregory Langholff and Amy (Peter) Krause; 10 step-grandchildren; one step-great- grandchild; three brothers, Dean Wintermute, Jim (Linda) Wintermute and John (Becky) Wintermute; and a sister, Betty Hodyniak.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson, with the Rev. Ethan Steinbrenner and Steven Wilkens co-officiating. Friends may call at the church from noon until the time of the service.

A get-together for family and friends will be held at "What's The Point" on U.S. Highway 12 west, Fort Atkinson, beginning at 5 p.m.

Private burial will be held at a later date in Hebron Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Paul's Lutheran School or Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson County.

Dunlap Memorial Home is assisting the family with arrangements.2

Dean H. Wintermte, 77, of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.

Dean was born in Palmyra on April 9, 1934, the son of Halsey Jr. and Eva (Harris) Wintermute.

He married Barbara Shaw on June 29, 1968. She died on Jan. 29, 2004.

Dean joined the United States Army in the 1950's and was stationed in Korea following the war. He was a member of the Palmyra American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He also was a longtime member of the Jefferson County Beekeepers Association.

He had worked for more than 20 years at Carnation (Nestle Purina) in Jefferson until his retirement.

Dean enjoyed playing euchre with his frinds, looking for treasures with his metal detector and tinkering on many different projects in his shop. He always ws giving a helping hand to his friends and neighbors.

He is survived by his daughters, Victoria,(Gary) Teubert and Deborah (Tim) Miller, both of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Ashley and Melissa Koslowski; brother, James (Linda) Wintermute of Fort Atkinson; sister, Betty Hodyniak of Rockford, Ill; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley and John Wintermute, and a half brother, Joseph Sonnenburg.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Hebron United Methodist Church, with the Rev, Karen Klatt officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Hebron Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

The Dunlap Memorial Home in Fort Atkinson is assisting the family.

Eva Wintermute

Eva E. Wintermute, 85, of Fort Atkinson, died on Monday April 8, 1996, at Countryside Home in Jefferson, following a brief illness. Born in Palmyra on June 14, 1910, to William and Lena (Grant) Harris, she married Hallie B. Wintermute of Hebron on April 16, 1932, in Rockford, Ill. He died on Nov. 30, 1989. A lifelong area resident, she attended Hebron United Methothdist Church and was a member of Bark River Woods Historical Society.

Surviving are four sons, Dean (Barbara), Stanley (Barbara), James (Linda), and John (Becky), all of Fort Atkinson; one daughter, Betty (Ronald) Hdyniak of Rockford; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Myrtle of Whitewater.

She was also preceded by one brother, Edgar.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, at the Hebron United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas L. Walker officating. Burial will take place in Hebron Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from noon until the time of services. The Dunlap Memorial Home is assisting the family.
