Wellington Wintermute was born in 1844 in Wellington, Ontario, Canada.^2,1 He and Mary Clothier were married on 30 December 1886 in Welland County, Ontario, Canada.² He died on 25 December 1910, at age ~66, in Thorold Township, Wellington, Ontario, Canada.¹ He was buried in Doan's Ridge Cemetery, Crowland, Niagara Regional Municipality, Ontario, Canada.¹

He resided in Humberstone. It was stated by his son Wellington (see 'The Wintermute Family History") that John was a son of John Sr by his wife Nancy Leopard, whom Wellington, writing in 1896, called "Lea" Leopard.

Margaret Wintemute was born in 1776 in Wyoming Valley, Pennsylvania.

Her petition [W5:55] dated 18 July 1797 describes her as 21 years of age and daughter of John Wintemute. Lot 21 Concession 5 of Humberstone was patented to Margaret Wintemute 20 May 1801. By deed dated at St Catherines 3 November 1831, Peter Blinkenstaver and Margaret his wife conveyed this lot to Robert Boyle of Humberstone. She was named as Margaret Stover in the will of her father and was so named in "The Wintermute Family History".

Charles David (Richard) Lizmore was born on 21 November 1826 in New Brentford, Middlesex, England.^1,2 He and Emily Orilla Goodenough were married on 21 September 1865 in St. Catharines, Lincoln, Ontario, Canada, St. George's Parish Church.³ He died on 9 May 1911, at age 84, in Watford, Lambton, Ontario, Canada.^1,2 He was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls, Niagara Regional Municipality, Ontario, Canada.²

Charles David (Richard) Lizmore was a Porter in Railway.⁴
"The story goes that he met Calvin Goodenough when he (Charles) was a soldier guarding the railroad in Niagara from the Fenian raiders. I think she was quite young, probably a child and he promised Calvin he would come back and marry her. Calvin was a widower with eight children. I think that he died in 1853 so perhaps he was looking out at that time for his children..."

.... Charles was a career soldier. After he retired from the military, he became a railroad worker. Emily and Charles were the parents of six children named James Calvin, Emily, Edith, Charles David, Mary and Alfred.

One of Emily's descendents, Donna Fratesi wrote:
My great-grandfather, Charles Richard Lizmore, had been in what was then Upper Canada, doing military duties and the story goes that he met Calvin Goodenough who had a large farm and also a baby daughter. Whatever the arrangement was, he promised to come back and marry the daughter when she was of age. As you can see, she was twenty-two years younger than Charles. He had been in the Royal Canadian Rifles for twenty years and was in the Crimean Campaign. He was pensioned out in 1868 from Chelsea Hospital in London, England.

Eve Wintemute was born on 9 July 1782 in Deerpark, Sussex, New Jersey.¹ She and Joab Strawn were married about 1801 in Welland County, Ontario, Canada.¹ She died on 11 February 1852, at age 69, in Roscoe, Winnebago, Illinois.

Named as Eve Strawn in the will of her father. An Order in Council dated 25 February 1812 names her as wife of Joab Strawn of Humberstone and daughter of John Wintemute. I am indebted to Dr George E. McCracken of Des Moines, Iowa, Editor of "The American Genealogist" for the following information. Joab was a son of John Strawn (Jacob Lancelot) by his wife Kezia Dennis. John and Kezia were married in April 1770 at the Richland Meeting of Friends, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and they subsequently settled in Greene County, Pennsylvania. Several of their children moved to Welland County, Ontario. Joab and later his family lived in Humberstone for some years but later moved to the London District. They subsequently moved to Roscoe, Illinois, where Eve died 11 February 1852 and Joab died 30 September 1854.
