Eleanor graced all who new her with her charm, humour and flare. Her love of the arts and history led her to experience many avenues of interest. Eleanor loved her pets, her garden and her verandah. We will all remember her for her gentle nature and warm personality. Eleanor always had a compliment for all. Peacefully on January 3, 1989 at Misericordia Hospital in his 85th year, Karl Wintemute, beloved husband of Eleanor Wintemute. Karl is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 56 years; children, Johane and Peter; son-in-law David Ferguson; grandsons, George and James, of Toronto; daughter-in-law Gwen and grandchildren, Debbie and Randy Scheyer; great-granddaughter Brittany; and Carol Wintemute, all of Winnipeg; sister Marjorie Close and family, of Dundas; brother-in-law Ernie Moncreiff and wife Nancy and family, of Winnipeg. Karl served overseas during the Second World War, retiring as a Lieutenant-Colonel. An avid sportsman, Karl was president of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1962 and was inducted into the Winnipege Football Club Hall of Fame in 1988. He was greatly loved by his family and all his many friends and he will be missed. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. George's Anglican Church, Wilton and Grosvenor, with Rev. Bill Duff officiating. Mrs. Johannah Wintemute, wife of Peter A. Wintemute, died April 11 in St. Joseph's hospital, Hamilton Ont. Funeral services were held Monday in Hmilton, with burial in Woodland cemetery, Hamilton. Rev. Russell W. O'Brian of Trinity United church officiated. Pallbearers were: James Brechin, Bert Rymal, Locko Johnston, Everett Shaparld, James Mackenzie and Harand Long. Mrs. Wintemute was born in Cayuga in 1877, and resided there until the time of her marriage. With her husband she has spent considerable time in Regina, Calgary and Winnipeg, where he was associated with the Manufacturers Life Assurance Co. They took up residence in Roseland, Port Belson, 17 years ago. A member of Trinity United church, and women's auxillary. Mrs. Wintemute had been an active member in the work of the church, as well as in community life, being a member of the Sinawik Club, asst president of the Roseland Sorosis club, and active in Red Cross society work. She is survived by her husband; one son, Lt. Col. Karl O. Wintemute, O.B.E.' one daughter, Mrs. Marshall Close, Toronto; a brother, George Fiansette, Cayuga; one sister, Mrs. Allan C. Riley, Detroit, and three grandchildren.

He retired in 1937.
