1 He and
Eva Mc Nees were married on 17 May 1911 in Canton, McPherson, Kansas. He died on 31 January 1964, at age 74, in Long Beach, Los Angeles, California.
1 He was buried on 3 February 1964 in Forest Lawn Memorial Park (Erica, Lot 22, Grave E), Long Beach, Los Angeles, California.
1 Roscoe Harlan Evans was a Certified Public Accountant in R. H. Evans Insurance. Roscoe Harlan Evans was the youngest of four boys born to Charles S. and Almeda (Beery) Evans. His older brothers were Herschel Perry, Clarence Rupert, and Earl Raymond Evans. In November 1890, tragedy struck the family when Roscoe's mother Almeda died of consumption at the early age of 30 years. Roscoe was 14 months old. His father found it hard to take care of the boys and placed each of the four boys in separate local family homes. At about 18 months old, Roscoe was placed with Joseph and Mary Whitright and lived with them until manhood.
Roscoe's father remarried in 1896 to Ella Fauchier. Not long after that they traveled to Oklahoma to try and get land during the great Land Rush already in progress. His father Charles established land in Oklahoma and returned to Canton, Kansas where the children were living to bring them to Oklahoma. Roscoe chose to live with the Whitrights.
Growing up in Canton, Roscoe worked at a granary, the local Utility Co, and at the Canton Bank. He was putting up a utility pole one day when he met his future wife, Eva McNees, who he married in 1911. Their union brought three children; Leona May, Milton Roscoe, and Dorothy Lamoine.
During WWI, Roscoe enlisted in the Kansas Home Guard and attained the rank of Captain in the 34th Battalion, Co "A".
In 1923, Roscoe announced to his family "we're going to paradise". So began their travel to California. Roscoe's half brother Louis Raleigh Evans came from Oklahoma to help with the move in an old Model "T". The family first lived in a rental near the beach in Long Beach, California, until they bought property. After several moves their final home was on 11th street in Long Beach.
During the years in Long Beach, Roscoe worked various jobs, including at a chicken ranch and an auto repair shop. Most of his adult years he worked at his R.H. Evans Insurance business on Anaheim Street where he was also a Certified Public Accountant, Notary, and had an Income Tax Service. Roscoe also was a long time member of the Ancient Order of Sciots, and participated in their activities. One time Roscoe took his boat to Catalina Island and back.
In the early 1930's, his children starting marrying and soon the grandchildren followed. He was a proud grandfather. Tragedy struck the family again in 1956 when Roscoe's only son Milton died at an early age of 41 years. Broken hearted as he was, Roscoe still carried on enjoying his grandchildren and family even more.
Roscoe was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather living long enough to enjoy his first great grandson.

James Milton Evans was born on 2 December 1939 in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii.
1 He died on 2 November 2010, at age 70, in Apple Valley, San Bernardino, California. He was buried in Lucerne Valley Memorial Park (NE, Row 2, Plot M), Lucerne Valley, San Bernardino, California.
23 James Milton Evans was a Laborer in County of San Bernardino.
3 Jim was born to Milton and Margaret Evans in 1939. Each parent was an alumnus of Ohio State University. His father received a Veterinary degree and his mother received a degree in Nursing. The chance to work at a large animal hospital pulled Milton and Margaret to Honolulu, Hawaii. While living there, Milton and Margaret had their first two sons. Jim was born Dec 2, 1939 and brother Dick was born in 1940. Early in 1941 the family moved to Lynwood, CA where early in 1942 brother Roscoe was born in nearby Southgate. Soon after WWII began, Milton enlisted in the Army. The family moved into Officer housing on the Army Presidio Base in San Francisco late in 1942. By 1946 his father's active tour of duty was over and the family moved to what would be a permanent residence in Long Beach, CA where sister Barbara was born in 1948. In 1956 tragedy struck the family when Milton died at an early age of 41yrs. Jim was 16yrs old. Margaret renewed her Nursing license and started work at the L.B. Community Hospital. All Jim's formative years through High School were in Long Beach. After graduation from Wilson H.S. in 1958 Jim attended L.B. City College, but soon dropped out. Jim enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1960. Jim was always very active and owned and rode motorcycles and participated in dirt racing. He worked two years at a local motorcycle shop until 1960. Jim worked at the Commercial Truck Bodies Company until he fractured his leg in a motorcycle accident while racing in 1961. That fracture seemed to be the bane of Jim's existence throughout his later years. Jim worked at Aero-Jet General until 1964. He worked at the Long Beach Community Hospital as an Xray assistant until 1966. It was late in 1966 that Jim decided to relocate to the Mohave Desert area. He started work for various contractors at George AFB until 1978. He was layed off and then started work with the County Road Maintenance Dept for San Bernardino County. Jim retired from the County in 1999. Jim bought property in the unincorporated area of Apple Valley and has lived on his property on Chickawill since 1985. Jim lost his home and all his belongings in the fire storm of 1999. He rebuilt on the same acreage. Jim has been a long time member of the Hesperia Community Church. He volunteered much of his time helping around the grounds at the church. Jim loved everything about the beauty of the High Desert. On the cover of the memorial folder distributed at his memorial service is a sunset photo taken by his niece Debbie from the front porch of his home. He was fortunate to have such a view of his beloved Desert. Jim was a very giving man who seemed to be at his best in the background. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all the family and many friends who know he now rests in peace.
