Junior was born in Sherkston, Ont. on Jan. 21, 1921, and raised south of Fort Macleod where he still resided on the original family homestead.
He and Magdaline Pitchko were married on March 29, 1944.
Junior was a pioneer in the trucking industry, purchasing his first truck at the age of 18. He continued this career, along with farming, for many years. Throughout his working life, Junior became well known in many areas of Alberta and British Columbia for his hard work and unequaled generosity.
To drop into JR and Pug’s for a visit was to be treated to their warmth and hospitality. When Junior wasn’t hard at work, he loved gardening, camping, fishing and playing cribbage with his family and countless friends. He especially enjoyed the crib tournaments at the Legion where he was an affiliate member for more than 40 years.
Then, if there were any spare moments left, you would find Junior quietly doing his crossword puzzles. However, nothing gave him greater happiness than family get-togethers.
Thinking of Junior will bring many fond memories, but what he was most respected for was his steadfast honesty, and humanitarian acts of kindness. He was a man who could always be trusted to keep his word.
A celebration of Junior’s life was held at Eden’s Funeral Home, Fort Macleod on Monday, Oct. 27, 2003 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Peter Walker officiating. Cremation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Junior’s memory to the Salvation Army, 1218 Second Ave. S., Lethbridge, Alta., T1J 0E4.
