Mr. and Mrs. William Strawn have a new baby daughter, born this morning at the home of Mrs. Strawn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Hyser, 1308 Union Avenue, who weighed 8 1/2 pounds. Mrs. Stawn was before marriage Mis Blanche Hyser.

BELVIDERE -- Helen L. Strawn, 79, lifelong Belvidere resident died Sunday night, Sept. 5, 2004, in her home after a short illness. Born June 6, 1925, in Belvidere, the daughter of William Herman and Blanche Lulu (Hyser) Strawn. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Nielsen Music Store and she later worked for Lunstrom and Peterson Paint Store. Member of First Baptist Church. Helen was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, listening to games on the radio and watching them on television simultaneously. She graduated from Belvidere High School and Rockford Business College. Helen is survived by brother, Herman Strawn of Clinton, Wis.; niece, Salley Dredske of Poplar Grove; Terry Strawn of Florida; several great-nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews. Preceded in death by parents. Service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., with the Rev. Brian Johnson, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation 12:30 to service time Thursday in funeral home.
