OZONA - Ola Frances Dickerson Flanagan “Nanny,” 73, of Ozona, Texas, went to be the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, after a brief illness. She was born on Oct. 7, 1934, to Olin and Juanita Cavett Dickerson in Lynn County, Texas. Frances married Granville “Shorty” Flanagan on Dec. 24, 1954, in Clovis, N.M. They made their long-term home in Ozona, Texas, where he worked and she stayed home and raised their six children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ozona. She was the president of the Resident Council for many years at Crockett County Care Center were she resided. She is survived by her daughter, Thelma Lou Carson, and husband A.G. of Ozona; her sons, Stanley D. Flanagan and wife Vonda of Ozona, Roland D. Flanagan of Ozona, Billy H. Flanagan and wife Wendy of Christoval, and Jim Bob Flanagan of San Angelo; grandchildren Scottie Killam and wife Brandi, Chrissy Carson, K.C. Carson, Scot Carson and wife Donna, Lindsy Bean and husband Wesley, Chad Flanagan and wife Sherrie, William Flanagan, Brandon Flanagan, Kimberly Flanagan, Sheila Rice and husband Mark, Jolene Yates, Ronnie D. Yates, Shawn Newcomer, Tracey Flanagan, Brett Flanagan, Ashlyn Flanagan, Jacob King and T.J. King; great-grandchildren Victoria Zapata, Taylor Absher, Skylar Lacy, Kurt Bean, Johnny Kolster, Tiffany Kolster, Alexandra Kolster, Maggie Kolster, Shyanne Yates, Aracelias Rivarola, Monica Rivarola, and Alaina Drummonds. She is also survived by one sister, Jimmie Ann Mathis and husband Harold of San Angelo; many nieces and nephews; and her extended family Candice and Michael King, Jan St. Clair Tice, and the employees and residents at Crockett County Care Center in Ozona. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Olin and Juanita Dickerson; her husband, Granville Flanagan; her daughter, Janet Yates; and brothers Johnny and Jerry Dickerson. Visitation with the family will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Preddy Funeral Home in Ozona. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Marcus Sims, Ike Whitten, P.A., the wonderful staff at Crockett County Care Center, and to the staff at Hospice of San Angelo for the wonderful loving care that you have given her. The family requests that memorials be made to Crockett County Care Center Activity Department or Hospice of San Angelo.

Mrs. Cavett was born Nov. 8, 1931 in Red River County. She moved to the Southland area and attended Southland schools. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and the church's choir. She was a caregiver for children's day-care before she retired in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruffus and Lillian Moore and one brother, Little Robert.
Survivors include four sons, Morris L., Tommy M., Donald L. and Glen F.; three daughters, Brenda Walsh and Judy Calhoun, and Kimberly School; 23 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bobby Moore, Kenneth Moore, R.J. Moore and Billy Moore; seven sisters, Wanza Holler, Maurine Luttrell; Betty Roland, Edith Burrow, Elizabeth Ginn; C.J. Moore and Patricia Moore.

He died Friday, Feb. 10, 1995, at Hobbs Health Care.

He was born March 17, 1924, in Ralls County and married Joan Smith in November 1950.

He served as a seaman first class during World War II.

He worked as a mechanic, and in 1960 he owned and operated the C&W Salvage in Hobbs,N.M. He liked to hunt, fish and play cards. He lived most of his life in Slaton.

A daughter, Sonya Denice Cavett, died in 1962.

Survivors include one son, Richard Scott Cavett of Hobbs; two daughters, Lana Diane Hencey of Hobbs and Tanya Lynn Laman of Artesia; three sisters, Juanita E. Dickerson of San Angelo, Ella Mae Harrison of Hobbs and Frankie E. Duckworth of Colorado Springs; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
