Biography

Walter Francis Arnold Ferguson was born on 13 May 1904 in Chatfield, Fillmore, Minnesota.1,3,4,2 He and June Etta Bly were married on 17 May 1934.5 He died on 8 December 1973, at age 69, in Jordan, Minnesota.1,3,4 He was buried on 11 December 1973 in Grandview Cemetery, Austin, Mower, Minnesota.4
Walter Francis Arnold Ferguson was in Geo. H. Hormel Company.5 Walter Francis (Muscles) Ferguson, son of Harry A. and Ida May Eddy Ferguson was born in Chatfield, Minn., on May 13, 1914. He attended school in Chatfield and the family moved to Austin, where Mr. Ferguson was employed by the Geo. A. Hormel Co. He was united in marriage with Miss June Etta Bly in Austin on May 17, 1934 and has lived here ever since that time. He retired from the Hormel Co. in 1967 after 25 years of employment there.

Mr. Ferguson was a man of small stature, but was a big-hearted individual. One of his favorite past-times was fishing and he spent many hours at the East Side Lake, where he enjoyed meeting people. In spite of his long illness he enjoyed himself. Mr. Ferguson passed away on Saturday, Dec. 8 in the forenoon at St. Olaf Hospital. He resided at 1200 3rd Ave. NE at the time of his death. Funeral services were held on Tueday, Dec. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at the Jordan Mortuary Gardens with John Freese, Elmer Rathjen, Lloyd Camerer, John Perry, Francis Ferguson and Llwellyn Ferguson serving as bearers. The organist was Mrs. James Kellogg and the soloist, Mrs. Sam Williams. Mr. Ferguson is survived by his wife, Mrs. June Ferguson; two daughters, Miss Marian Ferguson, Austin, Mrs. Vernon (Phyllis) Keyser, Cascade, Wisconsin; four sons, Lawrence, Belvidere, Ill., Charles, Owatoma, Alvin and Ronald Ferguson, Austin; 17 grandchildren, a nephew, David Schneider, Mpls, who was raised by the family, two sisters Mrs. Nina Johnson, Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Rachel Cockrum, Springfield, Mo., nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Lloyd and Leon Ferguson.

Lawrence F. (Larry) Ferguson was born on 6 May 1932 in Austin, Mower, Minnesota.1,2 He and Maryann (?) were married on 28 November 1980 in Muscatine County, Iowa.3 He died on 25 April 2005, at age 72, in Marshalltown, Marshall, Iowa.2 He was buried on 28 April 2005 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama, Tama, Iowa.2

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa - Lawrence “Larry” F. Ferguson, 72, Marshalltown, died Monday, April 25, 2005 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Ferguson was born May 6, 1932, in Austin, Minn., the son of Walter and June Bly Ferguson. He married Maryann Novotny Nov. 28, 1980, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death Nov. 24, 2994
For most of his working life, he worked as a laborer for the railroad.
He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. He was very active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include his mother, June Ferguson of Austin; three brothers, Charles Ferguson of Austin, Alvin Ferguson of Elmore, Minn., and Ronald Ferguson of Austin; two sisters, Phyllis Keyser of Virginia and Marion Wilke of Austin; a stepson, Jeff Novotny of Tama; a stepdaughter, Debbie Plowman of Grinnell; six step grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and his wife.
A memorial fund has been established.
The Rev. Dewey Grimes will officiate the services.
Graveside services: 3 p.m. Thursday, April 28, Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama. Visitation: 2 p.m. until service time Thursday, Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama.
