JOHNSON, DOROTHY -- It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of Dorothy Johnson of R.R. #2 Vienna in her 85th year. She died peacefully at home surrounded by love. Born in Glen Meyer, the daughter of the late Fred Belore and the late former Audrey Hawley. Survived by her daughter Cindy and her beloved son-in-law Jeff, daughter Judy Easby and a son, Jim Johnson, all of Tillsonburg. Also survived by three grandsons, Gary Johnson of Port Rowan, Bruce Johnson of Tillsonburg and Nicholas Palmer of Brownsville. Also survived by very dear friends Ron and Betty Oatman of Tillsonburg. SHAW, George Richard - To his friends and acquantances over the years, George Richard Shaw of Cobourg, Ontario, born June 20, 1922, St. Thomas, passed away March 18, 1999 at 3:20 p.m at Cobourg General Hospital. He will be missed by his wife Sherley Donelda Isabell Hall, his son George Terrance Hall Shaw, and his two grandsons Matthew Graham Shaw and Gordon Nathaniel Shaw. Gone but not forgotten. Until his health took a turn last September, he was an active man for his years. His family was his life. Except for his grandsons, noting gave him greater pleasure than helping his neighbours in just repairing things. He never dwelled on the past. He never discussed his military service in W.W.II nor his thrirty odd years he served in the R.C.A.F. as an officer commissioned from the ranks. Working for the Ministry of Community & Social Services from 1971-1988, he found a greater sense of contentment and purpose. he enjoyed his Coldwater/Muskoka years. He lived his days to the fullest with a sense of purpose. Descended from an old from an old New Brunswick U.E. farm family in Shedden, Ontario, he was the son of George Munro Shaw and Ruby Hawley. His siblings are Mary Checkley (Cobourg), Peggy Burkhart (Waterloo), Donna Simpson (Stratford), Norman Shaw (London), and the late Ronald Shaw (Stratford). He will be missed by his in-laws; Norma and Lawrence Shaw (North River), Wilma Hill (Orillia), Emma Hall (Coldwater), Betty Latter(?) (Brantford), garryu and Sandra Cooke (Bowmanville). A special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and other Health Care Workers who assisted us. Yours was not an easy task. Following his wishes there will be no funeral. If you want to make a donation in his name, please make it to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Arrangements by the MacCoubrey Funeral Home, 30 King Street E., Cobourg, 905-372-5132.
