Sandusky Mayor Orval Finkbeiner died of an apparant heart attack Sunday, while dedicating the new McKenzie Memorial Hospital.
Finkbeiner, Sandusky's mayor for 25 years, was thinking those came out to witness the dedication of the new hospital for the Sanilac County seat when he suddenly fell backwards off the podium.
Several doctors in atttendence rushed Finkbeiner into the new hospital where he was pronounced dead. Doctors said the apparent cause of death was a heart attack.
The mayor was the first patient at the new hospital.
