Biography

Charles Benton Wagner was born on 12 December 1869 in Bloomington, Illinois.1 He and Mary June Caywood were married on 25 March 1892 in Lincoln, Johnson, Nebraska. He died on 3 June 1958, at age 88, in York County, Nebraska.
When Charles B Wagner was 4 years old, he was adopted and raised by David Daniels and his wife. They lived in Bloomington, Illinois. When Charles was 15 years old he left Daniels and went either to Bozeman Montana to herd sheep or to South Dakota to work on the railroad. He arrived in Nebraska n 1886.

In 1887 the Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists built a four-storey mission known as the Lincoln City Church, later known as Capitol View. Charles Benton Wagoner and his brother Delno L. Wagner helped build the mission.

In 1908, part of the Charles Benton Wagner family including mother Mary June Caywood Wagner and children Ethel, Carence, Eleanor, Imogene, Viola, Dora and Gladys left the family farm in Section 8, Hays Township, York County, Nebraska and moved to a farm in Vinton Township, southwest of Ord, Nebraska. Winifred was bron after Mary June moved to Ord. Father Charles Benton Wagner with daughter Abbie and sons Ora and Cecil stayed on the Hays Township farm. Abbie kept house for the men until until she married Sam Bricker, at which point Ethel returned from Vinton to Hays to keep house. When she married Fred Walbrecht, Eleanor took her turn keeping house for the three men. Eleanor had attend schoo0l until the 9th grade in Ord, working for her room and board. The Wagner family was reunited in 1918 in York County when Clarence entered the service during World War I. The farm near Ord was sold and a farm was bought in Bradshaw, Nebraska. Ora kept farming the Charleston (Hays Township) farm.

While at the Ord farm, Charles B Wagner's mother Abbie Wagner Washburn came to live in York County to live wither her son and his family. Abbie Washburn died in 1920 at the age of 69.

Ethel Hansen, 94, Dies at Farm Home

Funeral services for Ethel Hansen were held Saturday, June 15, in Ord. Mrs. Hansen died June 12, 1991 at her home southwest of Ord. She was 94.
The Rev. Jim Miller officiated at the 10:30 a.m. services at the Ord Memorial Chapel. Burial was in the Ord City Cemetery.
Ethel Hansen was born September 8, 1896 at Charleston, NE in York county, to Charles and Mary Caywood Wagner. She was raised in Bradshaw and on a farm southwest of Ord. She attended school at the Vinton rural school south of Ord. Ethel was married to William Hansen, September 24, 1924 at Marysville, KS. They moved to the farm southwest of Ord where she lived the rest of her life. Her husband died in March of 1964.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star Crystal Chapter No. 43 and she had been treasurer of the Vinton School Board for many years.
Ethel is survived by four daughters, Lucile Fenton of Broken Bow, Doris Steinbarger of Milford, Shirley Walker of Ord and Lois Wells of Cotesfield; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, seven sisters, three brothers and a grandson, Kirk Wells.

Was preceded in death by her husband, parents; brother, Bud Brickner; and sister, Greta Bogert.
