2 Nancy Chipps, 73, of Ord died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia. The Rev. Allan Brown will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chipps was born Dec. 18, 1936, in the Mira Valley area in Valley County to Ross and Lenore (Roberts) Leonard.
She was united in marriage to Jon Chipps on Aug. 28, 1955, in Ord.
Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Jon of Ord; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Russell and Jeana Chipps of Lincoln and Steven Chipps of Ord; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janice and Pat Reding of Roseville, Calif. and Linda Foltz of Oakland, Calif.
Other survivors include three grandchildren, Nick, Raiden and Spencer.
Nancy moved with her family at an early age to California where she began her schooling. She returned to Nebraska where she completed her last three years of high school in Ord, where she graduated in 1955.
After she married, the couple moved to California where they lived in the Oakland and Santa Monicaareas for 12 years.
Nancy worked in banking and in the industrial businesses. From 1960 to 1965 she was a secretary at Convair Astronautics. In the fall of 1967, they returned to the Ord area.
For the past 14 years, Nancy worked as a dispatcher and was a certified jailor for Valley County.
Nancy always kept busy doing sewing, gardening, raising flowers and her family. She liked to collect figurines and loved dogs.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia, teaching adults Sunday School for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
