Grace E. Latham, age 93, of Tawas City passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 at Tendercare Nursing Home in Tawas City. Grace was born on Feb. 18, 1920 in Tawas City to the late Frank and Grace (Laidlaw) Long. She married Carl Elwin Robinson on Jan. 3, 1942, where they resided in Hale. Elwin preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1998. Grace later married Guy Latham on Jan. 20, 2000, where they lived in Tawas City and who also preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2012.

Grace was the last remaining of her siblings, Clare, Frankie (Owens), Edna (Bushe), Russell, Lyle and Nona (Rapp) Long.

Surviving are her nieces, Judy Werth and Betty Martin of Tawas City, Linda Sargent of Gaylord, Janice Carlson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and Patty Lugrins of Maryville, Tenn.; and nephews, James Rapp of Auburn, Frank Long of Lowell and Gordon Long of Lupton.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Grace's life with a memorial service at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mary Gibson officiating. Her family will welcome friends for visitation on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place after the service in the Tawas City Memory Gardens Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Fr. Robert Karnish officiating. A rosary service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by Kimball VFW Post No. 2243. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m. Memorials have been established to the donor's choice or an educational fund for his granddaughters Sophia and Cianna. Cantrell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Jon A. Chipps was a Farmer.3 Jon A. Chipps, 75, of rural Ord died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012. Jon was born July 7, 1936, in Valley County southwest of Ord to John and Viola (Woitaszewski) Chipps.

He was preceded in death by: wife, Nancy, on Jan. 9, 2010.

Survivors are: sons and daughter-in-law, Steven Chipps of Ord and Russell and Jeana Chipps of Lincoln; three grandchildren and one brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Judy Chipps of Oregon.

Jon was raised in Valley County and attended rural school southwest of Ord. He then boarded in Ord while he attended high school. He graduated from Ord High School in 1953. Jon then attended Milford Community College.

Jon was united in marriage to Nancy Leonard on Aug. 28, 1955, in Ord. The couple moved to California where they lived in the Oakland and Santa Monica areas. Jon first worked as an automobile mechanic. He then served in the U.S. Air Force for four years with part of his duty being in Korea. After receiving his discharge, they continued to live in California where he worked for General Electric as a technician on nuclear warheads.

In the fall of 1967, the couple returned to the Ord area where they farmed and they also milked cows until 1996. Later they raised stock cows and raised crops. Jon liked old cars, antique tractors and machinery.

Jon was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Jon was also preceded in death by: parents; and sister, Beverly Buddecke.

Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church or to the National Rifle Association.

Inurnment was in Ord City Cemetery, Ord, NE Military honors at graveside presented by the American Legion Post 38 and VFW Post 7029 of Ord.

Nancy Lee Leonard was a Dispatcher/Jailor in Valley County, Nebraska.2 Nancy Chipps, 73, of Ord died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia. The Rev. Allan Brown will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Ord City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Chipps was born Dec. 18, 1936, in the Mira Valley area in Valley County to Ross and Lenore (Roberts) Leonard.

She was united in marriage to Jon Chipps on Aug. 28, 1955, in Ord.

Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Jon of Ord; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Russell and Jeana Chipps of Lincoln and Steven Chipps of Ord; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janice and Pat Reding of Roseville, Calif. and Linda Foltz of Oakland, Calif.

Other survivors include three grandchildren, Nick, Raiden and Spencer.

Nancy moved with her family at an early age to California where she began her schooling. She returned to Nebraska where she completed her last three years of high school in Ord, where she graduated in 1955.

After she married, the couple moved to California where they lived in the Oakland and Santa Monicaareas for 12 years.

Nancy worked in banking and in the industrial businesses. From 1960 to 1965 she was a secretary at Convair Astronautics. In the fall of 1967, they returned to the Ord area.

For the past 14 years, Nancy worked as a dispatcher and was a certified jailor for Valley County.

Nancy always kept busy doing sewing, gardening, raising flowers and her family. She liked to collect figurines and loved dogs.

She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Arcadia, teaching adults Sunday School for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
