2 Moneta Evelyn Evans 83, resident of Gotebo, Oklahoma was born on January 8, 1927 in Gotebo, Oklahoma to W. D. (Bill) and Fern Chappelear and departed this life on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in Corn, Oklahoma.
Moneta was raised on the family farm and attended school at Lake Valley, where she participated in basketball and played in the band. She and her future husband James (Jim) F. Evans also met there. After Jim returned from World War ll, they were married on December 23, 1945, and established their home on land 5 miles north of Gotebo. Moneta was a homemaker and was very active in the Neighborly Club until children were raised. Later, she worked at the Dinky Diner and 54 Diner.
Survivors include her three daughters, JoAnn Jones of Corn, OK; Delena Henderson of Colony, OK; and Linda Stutzman of Frederick, OK; 16 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. As a mother, grandmother and great grandma, she will be missed, but mostly as our friend and confident.
Moneta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim Evans, one sister Oleta, two sons Buddy Evans and Jimmy Evans, and one great granddaughter Verena Wardwell.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 3, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Gotebo, OK, with burial in the Odessa Cemetery in Gotebo under the direction of Musick-Varner-Loftiss Funeeral Home In Cordell, Oklahoma.
