1 Elmer J. Andrews, 90, of Grant Township, died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 20, 2012, at Tender Care in Cass City.
He was born July 17, 1922, at the home of his parents, the late Jay and Elizabeth (Parker) Andrews in Grant Township. He grew up on a farm in Grant Township and was a 1941 graduate of Owendale High School.
On Jan. 1, 1942, he was united in marriage to Iva M. Abbe, at her parents home, in Oliver Township. They made their home and raised their family on a farm in Grant Township. Elmer farmed all his life, but was also employed at Active Industries in Elkton as a metal finisher for 34 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a very active member of the Owendale Community in Christ and was a priest of the church. Elmer loved all high school sports and was given Friend of Youth Award from the Owen-Gage Schools.
Surviving are his wife, of 70 years, Iva; four children, Jim (Eunice) Andrews of Peoria, Ill., Roger (Lynn) Andrews of Monet, Mo., Linda (Joe) Warack of Grant Township, and Susan Andrews of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Shelley, Jay, Michael, Steven and Lisa; eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Travis, Jimmy, Lilly, Spencer, Grace, Nicole and Brandon.
Preceding him in death were his grandson, Adam Warack; and two brothers, Ervin and Harlan Andrews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at the Owendale Community in Christ Church with interment in Grant Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel in Elkton and after 1 p.m. at the church on Sunday.
