Gridley, Calif. -

North Ogden- Dick passed away quietly and at peace in his home, on October 16, 2009, with his wife Shelia at his side, after battling with Brain Cancer since 2005. He was a retired Air Force Air Guard who loved God and country.

The love of his life next to his wife was the glorious and wondrous outdoors. Fishing with his children, grandchildren and close friends along with hunting as often as the opportunity presented itself brought him endless hours of enjoyment. He was indeed happiest being outside with nature sharing it with friends and family. He spent countless hours mentoring many boys through the Scouting program while fulfilling his duties in his callings with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Many of those young men went on to complete their Eagle Scout Awards with much thanks and gratitude towards Dick.

Dick was greeted at the time of his death by all those whom he had helped through his Genealogical work. It was his great love for his ancestors and the belief in the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that kept him working on his genealogy until the very end.

He is survived by his wife Shelia Yates Adams, Children; Burke Adams, Bret Adams, Cindy Hartman, Rachel Barranco, Ashton Byington, brother, Paul Adams, sisters; Jolene Briggs, Judy Stewart, Sue Hare, Kathy Lyman and 16 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Byington.
