Fred was raised in Iowa and was one of 10 children where he graduated from Janesville High School.
He joined the United States Air Force and honorably served from 1966-1971 during the Vietnam War. After leaving the service he enjoyed truck driving and working as a machinist until his retirement.
Fred loved anything and everything to do with aviation and was a member of the Springtown Radio Control Club. He enjoyed building and flying radio controlled planes, attending airshows and watching military aircraft documentaries.
Fred's greatest love in life was his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Heidemann; and sister, Nancy Christensen.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen Heidemann, children, daughter, Tracy Groves and husband, Louis of Hurst; son, Daniel Heidemann and wife Brenda Heidemann of Irving; and grandchildren, Hector Fernandez, Dionicio Fernandez, Merri Fernandez, Brendan Heidemann and Tracelyn Groves; brothers, John Heidemann and Joe Heidemann; sisters, Jean Sackett, Alice Franklin, Doris Ann Jansen, Merri Reninger and Rosalie Hiatt; along with a host of brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
