Edward C. Klinesmith, 76, of Port Allen, La., formerly of Georgetown, passed away (April 3, 2004) at his residence.
He was born March 7, 1928, in Prescott, Mich., the son of John T. and Viva Mae (Hall) Klinesmith. He married Dorothy Stevens High on Aug. 21, 1971, in Pontiac, Mich. She preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 1997.
Survivors include one son, Tommy Klinesmith in Wisconsin; two daughters, Cathy Terbusch in Wisconsin and Viva Lockhart in North Carolina; five stepchildren, Dean (Doris) High of Danville, James (Mary Lou) High, Sharon (Larry) Mollet and Shella (Tom) Brown, all of Georgetown, and Margaret (Charles) Wick of Port Allen; 26 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. His parents, one son, one daughter and one brother preceded him in death.
Edward served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer, and retired from General Motors in Pontiac, Mich. Edward was a life member of the U.A.W., NRA, VFW, and American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Services were held at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown; Officiating: Rev. Leon Korb; Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 of Georgetown.
