He and Mary Belle Lovelace were divorced before 2 April 1940 Yes. He died on 27 April 1978, at age 79, in Sheridan Township, Huron, Michigan.1 He was buried in Colfax Cemetery, Bad Axe, Huron, Michigan.1

Mrs. Phyllis Irene Kain, 85, of Kimball, died Wednesday, January 30, 2008.
She was born September 9, 1922 in Bad Axe to the late Clarence and Mary Keillor.

Mrs. Kain was a nurse's aide at Port Huron Hospital and previously worked in the jewelry and cosmetics departments of Kmart.

She enjoyed reading and taking car rides along the water.

Her family was very important to her.

She is survived by a daughter, Laurel Hamilton of Kimball; a son, Sam (Connie) Kain of New Orleans; three grandchildren, Robert (Kim) Hamilton, Jr. of St. Clair Township, Gregory Hamilton of Casco and Emily Anne Kain of Houston, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kevin, Daniel and Mark; and a special "granddaughter," Sara Simpson-Howell.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Hamilton, Sr., and a granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Kain.

Private family services will be held.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

Marie Alphid Anderson was born on 8 May 1909 in Michigan.1,2 She and Paul Daniel Lovelace were married on 29 June 1935 in Bay City, Bay, Michigan. She died on 24 December 1985, at age 76, in Sebewaing, Huron, Michigan.1 She was buried in Assembly of God Church Cemetery, Sebewaing, Huron, Michigan.1


Marie attended Bay City Handy for junior high school and Central High School where she graduated in 1926. After high school she attended County Normal and Central Michigan College. She then taught at rural Garfield No. 2 School in Crump, MI from 1927-1929. In 1930 she moved to Sebewaing, MI to teach. After marrying Paul Lovelace, she quit teaching and helped him by working at his dairy. She was also busy raising her children.

During WWII there was a shortage of teachers. So Marie's mother, Hannah, now a widow, moved to Sebewaing to watch the children, so Marie could go back to teaching. She taught again from 1944-1946. She also went back to teaching from 1960-1971. Marie had a thirst for knowledge and a gift for teaching. She was also active in her community. She was involved in the Republican Party, Community Council, Junior Women's Club, and Senior Citizens.
