On 25 Feb 1918 Jack reported to Camp Dix, New Jersey where he was assigned to the 78th "Lightning" Division of the U.S. Army; on March 29 assigned to the 303rd Trench Mortar Battery, He was dispatched to France. where he scouted behind enemy lines. He participated in the Meuse-Argonne defensive battle and was discharged 3 May 1919.
On 1 Feb 1922 the State of New Jersey Board of Fish and Game Commissioners appointed Jack to the position of Fish and Game Warden for Middlesex County. In October 1941 he was promoted to Assistant Fish and Game Protector; promoted to Acting Proctector in the 1950s; retired 1955.
