Mrs. Garner was born in Dayton Township June 30th, 1883, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Woods Scott. She married William Garner June 1, 1904 and they made their home in Mayville. In 1920 they moved to Wayne where he died eight years ago. In 1948 Mrs. Garner returned to Mayville to make her home with Mrs. Nellie Mitchell. Surviving are one son, Ward I Garner, Wayne, and a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Fogerty of Wayne.

Maida Ruth Hall was educated in Baker Business College. Loving mother, grandmother, and sister passed away Sunday morning, September 28, 2002 at Saginaw Geriatrics, where she had resided the last nine years. Age 95 years. Maida Ruth (Hall) Butterfield was born July 8, 1908 in Dayton Center, Mich. to the late Edwin Orlo Hall and Zella Katherine Willsey. She was a graduate of Baker Business College in Flint, and she worked for a couple of years as a stenographer at A.C. Spark Plug of GM in Flint. There she met and married Edgar G. Butterfield June 1, 1935 at Hall's Haven, the bride's family farm. Edgar predeceased her October 20, 1982. Maida and Ed were core members of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church and later helped engineer and finance a mission church, Hopevale Memorial Baptist Church in Saginaw Township. God, church, and family were central in her life. She held numerous church offices, financial secretary, recording secretary, President of the Women's Missionary Society, as well as teaching Sunday School. Her strong faith was contagious. She also loved to play bridge, golf, bowling, sewing, typing, reading and cooking.

Maida is survived by three daughters, Dian (John) Zahner, Spokane, Wash., Patty (Richard) Yates, Freeland, and Bethany Rowell, Grand Rapids, a son-in-law, Dale Harvey of Saginaw, 11 grandchildren, Laura Lee Blair, Kevin (Santa) Harvey, Brian (Anita) Harvey, Marc (Deb) Zahner, Dane Zahner, Kara (Steve) VonWorley, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Yates, Jason (Dannette) Yates, Joel (Heidi) Yates, Joshua (Aimee) Rowell, Heidi Rowell and 16 great-grandchildren. A sister, Virginia Rodgers also survives Maida. A daughter, Anita Harvey, and three sisters, Elizabeth Wilcox, Mary Seward, and Bernice Dickerson have predeceased Maida. Funeral services will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2003 at Freeland United Methodist Church. Rev Jaye Reisinger and Rev. Dan Davis will officiate with burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeland. Friends may call at the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington, Freeland on Friday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 am until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Association or the donor's favorite charity.

Edgar Grant Butterfield was educated in G. M. Tech. He was in A. C. Spark Plug/ Lufkin Rule.2 Edgar Butterfield of Saginaw Township, passed away suddenly early Wednesday morning, Oct 20, 1982 at St Luke's Hospital, age 76 years. He was born Sept 4, 1906 in Centralia, Illinois, moving to Flint, Mich in 1919. He married Maida Hall. She survives him. He was a charter member of Hopevale Memorial Baptist Church. Mr Butterfield graduated from the G.M. Tech in 1929, the second graduating class of G.M. Tech. He worked at A.C. Spark Plug for 19 years, coming to Saginaw in 1945 where he worked at Lufkin Rule for 25 years, retiring in 1971.

Surviving besides his wife are four daughters, Mrs Dale (Anita) Harvey, Saginaw, Mrs John (Dian) Zahner, Gladstone, MI, Mrs Richard (Patricia) Yates, Freeland, Mrs James (Bethany) Rowell, Grand Rapids, ten grandchildren, three great-grandsons, one brother, Orville Butterfield and two sisters, Verna Boudreau and Mary Turner all predeceased him. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at Hopevale Memorial Baptist Church, Rev. Paul A. Mays will officiate and burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Bernice Gertrude Hall Dickerson, of Denton, died Tuesday, June 4, 1985 at Ypsilanti. She was 71. Mrs Dickerson was born July 1, 1913 at Silverwood, the daughter of Edwin and Zella (Willsey) Hall. She married Ward Dickerson on March 5, 1932, in Mayville. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Belleville.

Besides her husband, Ward, she is survived by two sons, David of Denton and Ronald of Flint; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs Lee (Virginia) Rogers of Venice, Florida; Mrs Maida Butterfield of Saginaw, Mrs Mary Seward of Bradenton, Florida and Mrs Bertha Wilcox of Otisville. She was predeceased by a daughter, Claudia Dickerson. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 6 at Tiffin & Ransford Funeral Home, Mayville. Rev. John Manning officiated and burial was in Rich Township Cemetery of Lapeer county.
