Arlene Joan (Dahl) Petersen 67, of Duluth passed away unexpectedly Nov. 12, 2005 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Arlene was born on Aug. 23, 1938 to Erling and Alena (Earls) Dahl in Duluth, Minn. She worked at Wahl's Department Store for many years. Arlene was united in marriage on Oct. 5, 1985 to Walter Petersen. She retired from Walmart in 2003 after 11 years of employment. Arlene was an active member of the American Legion 71 and various positions for the American Legion 8th District. She was an avid bowler. Arlene enjoyed playing cards and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. The last two years were spent traveling the country seeing all the beautiful sites that she dreamed of seeing. Arlene was also a member of the Lakeview Covenant Church. She is preceded in death by her parents. Arlene is survived by loving husband of 20 years Walter; daughter, Melissa (Joey) Olson of Roseau; son, Michael Nepstad of Ada, Minn.; two step-sons, Timothy (Tina) Petersen of Dallas Texas; Rick Petersen of Tyler, Texas; four grandchildren, Amber and Dustin Olson, Brandon and Alaina Nepstad; two step-grandchildren, Tiffany and Roy Petersen; sister, Patricia (Frank) Carle of Duluth; niece, Kimberly (Dan) Linder of Esko; great-nephews, Daniel, Nathan, Ethan Linder; foster daughters, Rochelle (Scott) Korte, Leann Chambers, Deann Eckhart, Barb (James) Waknitz; many foster grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and special friends, Robert and Kathy Holmes. MEMORIAL SERVICE:10 a.m. Saturday Nov. 19, 2005 in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel 4100 Grand Ave., with family greeting friends one hour prior to service. Services entrusted to the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 624-5200.
