Obituary

Grace Eunice Valk of Boca Raton passed away on Friday, February 15th, 2013; she was 91 years old. Grace was born on April 17, 1921 in Muskegon, MI, the daughter of Arie and Effie VanAndel.

She graduated from Muskegon High School and received her Associates Degree in Business from Muskegon Business College in 1940. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sorority - Chapter C.Y. She began her career in business and interior decorating. On September 10, 1941, she married her sweetheart and life partner, Walter F. Valk. Grace took work with the U.S. Government while Walter was serving in the Army. After his honorable discharge, Walter entered dental school and Grace made a happy home life for him and their two children, Tim and Diane. She was a supportive and proud band parent at Muskegon High School. Grace also served as past president of Muskegon Dental Auxiliary and Cherry Guild Auxiliary at Hackley Hospital in Michigan. The Valk's moved to Boca Raton in 1983 where they were active at Boca Raton Community Church and a member of Boca Raton Regional Hospital Auxiliary. Grace enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends; she also loved a good tennis match and followed the sport. She had an appreciation of music which brought her peace and harmony throughout her life.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Digena Sorenson and brother, Dr. Claude VanAndel.

She is survived by Walter, her devoted husband of 71 years; son, Dr. Timothy W. Valk; daughter, Diane E. (Rob) Homan; four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.
