Biography

Edith Adell (Edie) Hill was born on 1 March 1866 in Boone County, Illinois.1,2 She and Sylvester Charles Harned were married on 17 March 1885 in Boone County, Illinois. She and John Pilcher were married about 1893.3 She died on 9 September 1947, at age 81, in Flora, Boone, Illinois.
Mrs.Edith Pilcher, 81, life resident of Boone county, died this morming at 8:30 in the home of her son, William Pilcher, residing on the Stone Quarry road in Flora township, where she lived many years. Death was due to infirmities of age following a four month illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Atkins- Johnson funeral home. The Rev. Oscar V. Luchs, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate and Hurlbut Woman's Relief corps will conduct its ritual. Burial will be in Belvidere cemetery. Friends may call any time after Wednesday noon in the funeral home.

Mrs. Pilcher was born March 1, 1866, at Caledonia, a daughter of Henry and Diadame Hill. She attended Caledonia schools and was first married to Charles S. Harmed. A few years after his death, she was united in marriage to John Pilcher, the home being made in this city for many years. Mr.Pilcher died in 1918. She was a member of Hurlbut Relief corps, her second susband being a veteran of the Civil war.

Surviving besides her son with whom she lived, William of Flora township, is another sonn, Earl, Belvidere, and a brother Herbert Hill, Rockford. There are also four grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

In addition to her two husbands.she was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Herbert Arthur Hill was born on 1 March 1873 in Bonus Prairie, Boone, Illinois.1,2,3 He and Mabel Simpson were married in December 1892.4 He died on 24 December 1947, at age 74, in Winnebago County, Illinois.3 He was buried on 27 December 1947 in Belvidere Cemetery, Belvidere, Boone, Illinois.3

Herbert A. Hill, 74, 1050 West Jefferson street, died at 3:30 p.m. yesterday in St. Anthony hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Hill was a retired carpenter and had resided in Rockford 40 years. He was born on a farm near Belvidere March 21, 1873. He was a charter member of the L--- Order of Moose.

Surviving are his widow, Mary, a son, Ray R. Hill, Rockford, three daughters, Mrs. Deloris Swanson, New Milford, Mrs. Evaline Stielman, Chicago, and Mrs. Bessie Foley.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Wilbur Ch--tension funeral home, 923 3rd avenue. The Rev. Melvin C. Sm--, pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran church, will officiate. burial will be in Belvidere cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 8 o'clock Friday night.
