Marjorie A. Olander, age 89, of Rhinelander, died Aug. 14, 2016, at Country Terrace in Rhinelander. Marjorie was born in Esmond, South Dakota on Jan. 25, 1927 to Frank and Minnie (Helgerson) Goddard.
After her schooling at the UW-Whitewater, Marjorie worked in the Oneida County Clerk's office and then went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. She was with the Forest Service from November of 1969 until her retirement in January of 1989. During those years she had also worked at the Montgomery Ward store here in Rhinelander.
Marjorie had a lot of interests. At the top of the list was her membership in the First United Methodist Church. She was active in her church and served as treasurer for a number of years. She loved the Goddard family reunions and she enjoyed quilting, traveling, fishing and volunteering. Beyond her efforts at church, Marjorie was also a member of the Woman's Club and volunteered where needed at the Ministry St. Mary's Hospita
Besides the reunion, the times spent with family at "The Shack" on Dumbbell Lake, were awfully special to her.
Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Sandra Ebert of Rhinelander and Bethel Fredrickson of San Diego, Calif., her sons David (Linda) Olander of Swansboro, Ga. and Paul (Patricia) Olander of Menasha, her seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, her sisters Marine Sobieski, Joann Heise, Bethel Nystrom and Beverly Gaber, her brothers Donald (Joyce) Goddard and Kenneth( Ruth) Goddard, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband David in 1981, her parents, two grandsons James Fredrickson and David S. Olander, brother Dean and sisters Frances and Jean.
Interment will be in the Forest Home Cemetery.
