Biography

Beverly Jeanne Doane was born on 21 December 1920 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan.1,2 She and Gerald Frank (Gary) Marshall were married on 5 September 1942 in Comanche County, Oklahoma.3 She died on 7 March 2013, at age 92, in East Lansing, Ingham, Michigan.2
Beverly Jeanne Doane was educated in Michigan State University Home Econoimics.2 Beverly J. Marshall East Lansing Born December 21, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Gladys Doane, passed away March 7, 2013 at the age of 92.

Bev graduated from Michigan State University in 1942 with a major in Home Economics. She married the love of her life, Gary Marshall, in September 1942. Bev and Gary made their home in East Lansing for all of their lives. They were very much in love and enjoyed the companionship of many dear friends. Bev was the consummate homemaker and loved applying her wonderful cooking and decorating skills to the advantage of her family and friends. She enjoyed participating in the Junior League, the Sparrow Hospital Guild, Peoples Church activities, and many other community groups over the years. She loved playing cards with Bridge being a favorite. She loved playing games of any kind and her friends and family have many happy memories (and funny stories) from those times. Her get-togethers with the "Tennis Group" are legendary. Bev will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Gary; brother, Donald Marshall; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Doane and Mary Marshall.

She is survived by her children, David (Tricia), Chris, Julie and Jeffrey (Jill) Marshall; grandchildren, Jamie Marshall, Katie (Dan) Choate, Amanda (Brad) Dodson and Nicole Marshall; great grandson, Ford Choate; brother, Bud Doane, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty and Harold Weaver and Ken and Sue Marshall.

A Memorial Service will be held at Peoples Church, 200 W. Grand River Ave., East Lansing, with the Rev. Penelope Swartz officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 310 N. Main, Ste 100, Chelsea, MI 48118 in Bev's memory. Biography

Charles Frederick (Bud) Doane, Jr., was born on 25 September 1925 in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan.1,2 He died on 2 December 2013, at age 88, in Lansing, Ingham, Michigan.2
Charles Frederick (Bud) Doane, Jr., was educated in Michigan State University College of Business.3 Charles Frederick Doane, Jr., 88, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed away December 2, 2013. He was born on September 25, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Charles Frederick Doane, Sr. and Gladys (Barnecut) Doane.
Charles F. "Bud" Doane, Jr. graduated from Michigan State University in 1948 with a degree from the College of Business. Bud loved airplanes as a young boy. During WWII he enlisted in the Army Air Force Pilot Training Program. When he graduated from high school, while awaiting active duty orders, he studied engineering at MSU which helped later when dealing with aircraft.

After the war, he returned to MSU and finished his degree in Business on the G.I. Bill. Following graduation, Bud re-entered the Air Force for four more years, flying several airplanes in several places, including Korea. After the war, Bud returned to East Lansing and met and married Dorothy M. "Dottie" Doane. Bud then joined the International Programs staff, and the Doanes traveled extensively for MSU to help establish the MSU presence in Nigeria, Pakistan, Nepal, and other places. Bud retired from MSU as Director of the Office of Overseas Support.

Bud was dearly loved by his family. He played an important role in the lives of his nieces and nephews David, Chris, Julie, and Jeff Marshall. He brought immense amounts of joy and laughter into our lives and we will miss him greatly. He was an inspiration to us all with his love of life and his ability to embrace new experiences. He loved interacting with people and he and Dottie made friends wherever they went.

Bud was preceded in death by his sister, Bev Marshall, and brothers-in-law, Gary Marshall and John Malloy. Surviving are sister-in-law, Lois Malloy, and nieces and nephews: David (Tricia) Marshall, Chris Marshall, Julie Marshall, Jeff (Jill) Marshall, Kevin Malloy, Tim Malloy, Sue Venture, Michael Malloy, Ellen Vento, Mary Junge, Maureen Rutowski, and David Malloy.

A "Celebration of Life" gathering will be held in later March of 2014 and will be announced at that time. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to The Charles and Dorothy Doane Veterans Educational Trust (VET), which was established to meet the needs of current and future veterans enrolled at MSU.
