Merritt Sr., Herman Yearl, age 81, of Duncanville, Texas passed away peacefully on April 15, 2012 at Home.
He was born on December 20, 1930 in Terry County, Texas to his parents, Clarence Hermon Merritt and Grace Beatrice Carroll Merritt.
Herman was the oldest of 9 children.
He married Gwenn Clayton in Dallas, Texas on November 01, 1957. They had 3 children.
He attended Eagle Pass and Brownfield High School and graduated in 1948.
He was a longtime resident of Dallas, Texas for some 62 years and was a Self Employed Masonry Contractor.
He owned Herman Y. Merritt Masonry Contractor Inc a Commercial Masonry business for 40 years.
Herman was a Deacon and member of Windsor Park Baptist Church.
He enjoyed Memorizing Scripture, Analyzing the Stock Market, He was a walking Sports Encyclopedia- Texas Rangers Baseball and Dallas Cowboys. He could tell you who pitched any game in the World Series in any year you pick, and tell their win/loss record too.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, and treasured his grand children.
Herman will be remembered by his loving wife and their child(ren) Gail Perry and husband Chuck, of Corvallis, Oregon, Herman Merritt Jr. and wife Therisa of Rainbow, Texas, and MiMi Sheets and husband Bill, of Duncanville, Texas.
He is also survived by Grandcildren: David and wife Nina, Lisa, and Jon Perry of Corvallis, Oregon. Whitney and Seth Merritt of Abilene, Texas. And William Sheets of Duncanville, Texas.
Predeceased in death by his parents, Grace Beatrice Carroll Merritt and Clarence Hermon Merritt Sister-Evalena Smith, Brother-Freddie Joe Merritt, Brother-Carroll (Cack) Merritt, Sister-Helen Joyce Moffett and neice Kimberly Moffett.
Visitation April 18, 2012 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
