Dorothy Agnes Lake was born on 22 October 1927 in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. She died on 10 February 2004, at age 76, in Scranton, Lackawanna, Pennsylvania. She was buried in North Jackson Cemetery, Jackson, Susquehanna, Pennsylvania.

Dorothy A. Holmes, 76, of Susquehanna, passed away after a courageous battle with Leukemia at Mercy Hospital, Scranton, Pa., on Tuesday, February 10, 2004. She was the daughter of the late William and Gladys (Bedfrd) Lake. Her grandmother, Fanny Jane Bedford, was an immigrant from Scotland and made her home in South Gibson, Pa.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Floyd Mead Sr., and Reed Holmes. Also predeceased are her sisters, Marguerite Lee and Madelyn Vallelong; and brother, Francis Lake.

She is survived by her loving family; sons, Floyd A. Mead, Susquehanna, Alan R. Mead, Jacksonville Fla.; daughters and son-in-law, Joann and Bob Jensen, Binghamton, N.Y., Dawn Truskolaski, Oakland, Pa.; sister, Loretta Hunt, Chenango Forks; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Jan Lake, Susquehanna; her grandchildren, who all had a special place in her heart , Tara, Paul, Joe, Steve, Matt, Cathi, and Chris; eight great-grandchil dren, three nieces, three nephews, and their families and cousins.

Dorothy was born and raised in Susquehanna and was an armchair philosopher, author, writer of poetry, and short stories. She wrote poetry for t wo book publications, "Poets at Work," and "Bells Letters." She had long friendships with other writers, artists, and many friends throughout t he United States. She was a humorist who most always saw the funny side of the down side of things. Dorothy was also a lover of life, books, music, baseball, animals, "Pennsylvania," and a devote believer in her hometown, "Susquehanna," where she lived all her life. Thanks for the memories!

The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2004, at 11 a. m. at the Hennessey's Funeral Home, 208 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, with Brother Dan Gealucci officiating. Burial will be in the North Jackson Cemetery, North Jackson, Pa. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospital, 746 Jefferson Ave., Scranton Pa., 18510.

Alan R. (Bobby) Mead, 64 of Jacksonville, Florida died unexpectedly on Monday, February 23, 2015. He was born in Susquehanna, PA, and the son of the late Floyd A. Mead, Sr. and the late Dorothy A. (Lake) Holmes.

Bobby was a graduate of Susquehanna Community High School, class of 1969. He was employed at Security Mutual in Binghamton, NY and most recent ly at the University of North Florida, Jacksonville. Alan was extremely loved and respected wherever he worked. He was a lover of folk music and gardening.

He is survived by his companion, Baxter Moore and good friend, Diana Bednarik of Jacksonville, FL; his brother, Floyd Mead Jr. and his wife Carol Mead, of Susquehanna, PA; sister Dawn Truskolaski and companion Bil l Hodgson of Susquehanna, PA and JoAnn Jensen of Binghamton, NY as well a s many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the University of North Florida on Monday, March 2, from 11:00am-1:00pm.

Robert E. Jensen Jr.

Robert E. Jensen Jr., 73, of Port Dickinson, died at home Monday evening, May 23, 2005.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Robert Sr. (in 1980) and Rose Marie (Danz) (in 1985), and his sister, Judy Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann (Holmes); two sons and daughters-in- law, Stephen and Helga, and Matthew and Leslie; two daughters and sons- in-law, Cathleen and Matthew Carroll, and Christine and Donald Roberts Jr.; and eight grandchildren, Roberto and Graciela Jensen; Haley, Emmet and Ellie Jensen; Makenna and Jordyn Carroll; and Donald Roberts III.

A United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he worked as a photographer while in the service, once photographing President Dwight Eisenhower, and often capturing in-flight images of fighters, bombers and cargo aircraft of the era. After the service, he began a long and distinguished broadcast career which started at the RCA Building in Manhattan , eventually leading him upstate to WNBF radio/television in Binghamton . "Bobby J," as he was known to friends in the media, retired from WBNG in 2001 after more than 40 years as a technical engineer. During his tenure, he worked behind the scenes on hundreds of broadcasts, including children's shows such as "The Ranch Club," "Captain Galaxy" space shows, " The Officer Bill Show," "Action News For Kids," as well as thousands of daily TV newscasts. His passions included reading and music, and in the last seven years, his grandchildren. A die-hard New York Football Giants fan, he was known by those closest to him for his sharp candor and a sarcastic, sardonic wit.

His family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, 137 Robinson St., Bing hamton. A memorial service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, May 27, at t he funeral home, with Rev. Ernest Steffensen officiating.
