Eleanor Elizabeth Miller was born on 1 February 1922 in Johnson City, Broome, New York. She and Donald Rockefeller Shay were married on 29 November 1941. She died on 3 June 2015, at age 93.
Eleanor E. Shay, 93, of Sayre, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, following a brief illness. She was born on Feb. 1, 1922, in Johnson City, N.Y., the daughter of the late Jesse and Blanche Wintermute Miller.

Eleanor was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, a member of the American Legion where she served as president, and a member of the Red Hat Society. She was an avid reader.

She is predeceased by her husband Donald R. Shay, granddaughter Leslie Reeser and sister Emma Miller.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Larry Reeser of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren: Erin and Paul Wigger; great-grandson Bronson Wigger; brother and sister-in-law Leslie and Mary Miller; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Redeemer, 201 South Wilbur Avenue, Sayre, with Rev. Glenn Mahaffey officiating. Burial will be in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Fort Indiantown Gap. Those wishing to sign the e-guestbook or to send condolences/flowers may do so by visiting.

JUPITER, Fla. - Natalie Mooney, 95, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. Mrs. Mooney was born in Springdale on Oct. 10, 1913. She had resided in the Jupiter area for the past 10 years, having come from Newton.

Mrs. Mooney received her bachelor's degree in music from Centenary College in Hackettstown, which led to her career as a pianist and organist for First United Methodist Church of Newton for over 50 years, retiring as Organist/Emeritus.

Mrs. Mooney was the widow of Leslie A. Mooney, who predeceased her in 1976. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Carey, and her grandson, Jeffrey Carey. Survivors include two sons, David Mooney and his wife, Barbara, of Jupiter, with whom she made her home, and Douglas Mooney and Janet Savercool of Deland, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Suellen Bittner and her husband, Thomas, James Carey, Diana and Jessica Mooney, Judith Colvin, Joanne Davis and her husband, Glenn, Lance Mooney and his wife, Karyn, and Jane Goodall; six great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and three loving step grandchildren and their families.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Monday at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 250 Center Street, Jupiter. Friends may call from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Music Department at First United Methodist Church of Newton, 114 Ryerson Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860, or the Music Department of Centenary College in Hackettstown, in loving memory of Natalie Mooney.

HENDERSHOT, JAMES C., 74, of Blairstown, NJ, died Feb. 14, 2002, in the Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown following a long illness. Born May 17, 1927 in Newton to the late Samuel D. and Mayme (Wintermute) Hendershot.

Mr. Hendershot was active in the trucking industry from 1940 until his retirement in 1990. He had lived in Roxbury and was active in youth sports and coached Little League baseball. He had resided in Newton and Budd Lake before moving to Blairstown 30 years ago. He was a private pilot and retained his license form 1946 to date. Mr. Hendershot was a member of the Aircraft Owners Pilot Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was also an active sportsman.

Mr. Hendershot was predeceased by his wife, Lois C. Best Hendershot in 2001. He is survived by two sons, Alan of Columbia and Steve of Blairstown; two daughters, Denise Hendershot and Sydell Shaffer, both of Blairstown; a sister, Natalie Mahoney of Jupiter, FL; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service on Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the Newbaker Funeral Home, Route 94, Blairstown, NJ. Visitation Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial in the Newton Cemetery. Donations may be made to Blairstown Ambulance Corps, PO Box 389, Blairstown, NJ, 07825.

Steven C. Hendershot, 60 years of age, passed away on January 13, 2012, at his home in Blairstown,Nj . Steve was a life long resident of Blairstown. He was employed by Andover Subacute & Rehab in Andover, NJ and previously by the Blairstown Elementary School District as a maintenance engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene, a daughter Kelly Cosgrove and her husband Chuck of Paupack, Penna., a son, Kurt Hendershot and his wife Theresa of Little Elm, Tx., a sister, Denise Hendershot, Hardwick, NJ and two grandchildren, Christopher and Kayleen Cosgrove.

Services will be held Tuesday, 8:30 PM, January 17, 2012 at the Newbaker Funeral Home, 200 Route 94, Blairstown, NJ. Visitation will be also on Tuesday, 2-4pm and 7-8:30 pm January 17,2012.

Sydell J. Shaffer, 47, of Blairstown died Wednesday, May 8, in Hackettstown Community Hospital. She was co-owner and operator, with her husband, of H & S Enterprises, a trucking business in Columbia.

Born July 31, 1954, in Newton, NJ, she was a daughter of the late J. Carl and Lois Best Hendershot. She resided in Blairstown all her life. She was a 1972 graduate of North Warren Regional High School. She and her husband, Kenneth, were married for 29 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Alicia M. Casey of Knowlton Township; two sons, Kyle J., at home, and Kevin P. of Knowlton Township; a sister, Denise of Blairstown; two brothers, Alan of Columbia and Steve of Blairstown; and two grandsons.
