Memorial service for Dorothea Carter, 82 will be held Saturday, at 3:00 P.M. at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral. Dorothea spent the last five years of her life with her daughter, and son-in-law. She was a resident of Spokane for 60 years. Dorothea was born in Missoula, MT. She passed away May 6, 2007. After retiring from the Medical Service Bureau in 1984, she spent quality time with her family, and friends. She also was a volunteer at the Spokane Public Library, as well as serving as a Director on the Board for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John D. Carter, who retired as Deputy Chief of Police in Spokane in 1983. Survivors include a daughter Deborah Short and husband James; son John D. Carter, Jr. and wife Denise; grandchildren Nathanial Short and wife Kimberly, Mark Short and wife Cheryl, and Kristy and Derrick Carter; great-grandchildren John and Alex Kate Short. She was preceded in death by one sister Marion; other survivors include Lillian Fisher, Gene Zorn, Lois Zibell, Merlyn Roberts and one brother Milton, numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins. Dorothea was the sunshine in all of our lives. She will be greatly missed by everyone that loved her. Burial will be with her beloved husband at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at 101 Norht Main in Coupeville, WA 98239.

Mary Jo Fullerton

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Mohawk Community Church for Mary Jo Fullerton of Springfield, who died Nov. 10 of cancer. She was 87.

She was born Feb. 13, 1924, in Victor, Mont., to Joe and Mary Schrantz Ess.

She married James Fullerton on Oct. 1, 1940, in Hamilton, Mont. He died on Feb. 20, 2005.

She attended public schools in Montana. She operated the Railway Express Agency in Springfield with her husband. She also worked as a shipping clerk for Payless Drug Store.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Osborne, Joyce Smith and Barbara Harris, all of Springfield; a son, Mike of Cottage Grove; a sister, Mayme Rolf of St. Helens; 12 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Private inurnment will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.

Arrangements by Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene.

Remembrances to Cascade Hospice Program or Mohawk Community Church.
