Mr. Leroy Kite of DeSoto passed away at St. Anthony's Medical Center on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 4 days. He was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on November 11, 1931; he was the son of the late Louis Vincent and Jenny (Breeves) Kite. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Francine "Sue" (nee Phelps) Kite.

Mr. Kite was the dear father of Robert Kite, Hematite, Aaron (Cindy) Kite, DeSoto, Andrew Kite, DeSoto, and Roger Kite of French Village; dear grandfather of Courtney, Alisha, Shelby, Megan and Brandon Kite all of DeSoto; dear brother of Louis Eugene (Cindy) Kite, Troy, Illinois and Homer Kite of California; and a dear brother of Barbara (Pete) Hope of Granite City, Illinois.

He was a refinery worker for the Doe Run Lead Smelter Plant. He was an amateur ham radio operator.

Chaplain Dennis Heck will be officiating the funeral service.

Johnie J. Personett was born on 27 January 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri.1,2 He and Leatha Ioleen Covington were married on 30 May 1946 in River Rouge, Wayne, Michigan. He died on 3 April 2008, at age 81, in Alton, Madison, Illinois. He was buried in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto, Madison, Illinois.
John J. Personett, 81, died at 9:51 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1927, in St. Louis, the son of John A. and Essie V. Tahash Personett, now deceased. He married Lenora L. Rea Oct. 31, 1977, in St. Louis, and she survives.

A veteran, he served with the United States Army in World War II. He was a teacher for the St. Louis Board of Education for 37 years. He was later employed as a switchman for St. Louis Terminal Railroad for 22 years, retiring in 1991.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Anita Cole of Florissant, Mo., Lea Donna Jacobs of Bonne Terre, Mo., and Jayne Brisco of St. Louis; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; six step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joy A. Mooney of St. Louis County in Missouri.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James Eric and Dane William Personett and two sisters, Frances A. Phelps and Hazel Vanarsdale.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Monday, April 7 at Paynic Home For Funerals. Burial will be at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Leta Martha Creighton was born on 16 June 1893 in Iowa. She and Bernard Abram Tahash were married on 4 July 1912 in Sheffield, Franklin, Iowa.1 She died on 31 March 1926, at age 32, in Flint, Genesee, Michigan. She was buried in McClure Cemetery, Gladwin, Gladwin, Michigan.2
Leta M. Tahash, wife of Bernard Tahash, aged 32 years, 9 months and 15 days, died March 31 at Flint. The body was brought to Gladwin, April 3, for burial in McClure cemetery.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters. Her parents Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Creighton and two brothers of Gladwin township went to Flint and accompanied the other relatives on the trip to Gladwin with the body. Gladwin County Record dated 4-8/1926 Column - 3 Page - 4.
