Chester (Chet) O. Dodder was born on 20 December 1918 in Douglas County, Kansas.1,2 He and Eleanor Mae Higgins were married on 13 June 1946 in Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas.3 He died on 12 April 2011, at age 92, in Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas.2 He was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery (Sunrise, Section lll), Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas.23
Chester Chet O. Dodder, 92, of Silver Lake, passed away, April 12, 2011 at Midland Hospice. He was born Dec. 20, 1918 in rural Overbrook in Douglas County to C. Roy and Pearl A. Oehrle Dodder.

He graduated from Overbrook High School in 1938.

Chet served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, 302 Repair Squadron in World War II. He returned following the war and farmed on his families farm from 1946 until 1966. He retired from U.S.D. 501 maintenance in 1981. He retired to his home in Silver Lake in 1993 and had lived at Atria Hearthstone the past several months. He was a member of the Anderson-Raible Legion Post #0239 of Overbrook over 60 years and the Modern Woodmen of America.

Chester was married to Eleanor Mae Higgins on June 13, 1946 in Topeka. Eleanor passed away on Dec. 2, 2009.

Also preceding him in death was his son, Alan D. Dodder on Oct. 16, 1990.

He is survived by his daughter Cheta Mark and her husband Ken of Tonganoxie; a son, Mikel Dodder and his wife Kathy of Silver Lake; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and his sister, Faye M. Cain of Palm Springs, FL.

Funeral services will be held at the Mt. Hope Mausoleum Chapel on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11:00 am. Interment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. He will lie in state at Davidson Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Shawnee-County Meals on Wheels and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.

Charles Galbraith was born in Scotland, in October, 1854, from which country he came to the United States with his parents, the family locating in Michigan. He later went to Orleans county, New York, where he was married and where he made his home until 1887, when he came back to Michigan where he spent the rest of his life, dying on October 13, I913. He devoted his active life to farning. He was a Republican and served as justice of the peace for some time, a Iqan of high standing in the communities where he resided. He was a member of Vienna Lodge No. 205, Free and Accepted Masons, and belonged to the Methodist church. His family consisted of five children, namely: Warren C., who lives in Flint; Marion, the wife of C. D. Butler, of Fairgrove, this county; Arthur E., the subject of this sketch; Neal, who is farming in partnership with the subject of this review, married Mabel Brabazon, a daughter of A. J. Brabazon, and Wayne C., who is married. After the death of the mother of these children, in 1902, Charles Galbraith married Nora Buck and to that union two children were born, Edith and Gordon.
