Judith "Judy" Grace Hankinson, 71, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2019, at St. Luke's Warren Campus in Phillipsburg, NJ.
Judy was born on February 8, 1948, in Somerville, NJ. She spent the majority of her life in Hunterdon County, NJ, before moving to Phillipsburg (Warren County) a few years ago.
Judy was the daughter of the late Donald and Eleanor Perry Hankinson.
Judy graduated from High Bridge High School as co-valedictorian of the 1966 class. She worked for over 10 years at New Jersey Property-Liability Insurance Guaranty Association in Basking Ridge, NJ, before her retirement. After she retired, she worked part-time at ShopRite in Greenwich Twp., NJ.
Judy was a longtime member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Cokesbury, NJ and served as Church Historian. In the last couple of year of her life, she became a member of Stewartsville Presbyterian Church in Stewartsville, NJ, where she served as a Deacon.
Judy's biggest passion was genealogy. For many years she enjoyed researching her ancestry, meeting distant relatives, and supporting other genealogists. Judy was an active member of the Apgar Family Association, serving as both newsletter editor and trustee. She was a member of various other local history and genealogy organizations.
Judy took after her mother in doing needlecrafts and in being a big NY Mets fan. She will always be remembered for her love of her pets and also butterflies.
Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Smith of Whitehall, PA and Hadassa Whitney of Allentown, PA. Judy is also survived by one brother and one sister, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held in September 2019 at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Internment was in Mountainview Cemetery, Cokesbury, NJ.

Charles M. Sutton, 63, of Little Brook Road, Lebanon Township, N.J., died Wednesday in Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington.Before retiring in 1968, he was employed as a molder by the Taylor-Wharton Steel Plant, High Bridge, for many years.Born June 29, 1920, in Lebanon Borough, N.J., he was a son of the late Howard and Zetta Apgar Sutton. He lived in Hunterdon County all of his life.Mr. Sutton was a member of Cokesbury Methodist Church, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Glen Gardner. He served as a sergeant and navigator with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in the European theater.Surviving are two daughters, Sandra L. Harner, Califon, and Patricia A. of Glen Gardner; two sisters, Doris McDowell, Lebanon, and Alma McKnought, Fort lauderdale, Fla; a brother, Kenneth of Lebanon, and two grandchildren.Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Bright's Colonial Funeral Home, Lebanon. Interment will be in Mountainview Cemetery, Cokesbury.
