Doris was the loving wife of Raymond P. Patten, who preceded her in death in 2006.
She lived in Bernardsville, N.J., most of her life while raising her family.
She had worked as a bookkeeper in Bernardsville and also was a school bus driver in Basking Ridge, N.J.
After her retirement, Doris and her husband moved to Sun City, Ariz., and live there for 30 years, until returning to Pennsylvania to live with their daughter, Lynn, in Kunkletown.
We will remember her as we think about the things she loved to do - reading a good book, chatting with her friends and family, writing, crossword puzzles and playing cards.
We will remember the beauty of the way Doris touched all our lives. She will be deeply missed by her children, Lynn Patten of Kunkletown; Robert Patten of Saylorsburg; Jay Patten and his wife, Kathryn, of Union, N.J., and Rex Patten of Cincinnati. She will also be missed by her surviving brother, Richard Ayers and his wife, Mary, of Matthews, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.
She was the loving and gentle grandmother to her six grandchildren, Christopher Patten and his wife, Lauren, Shane Patten, Melanie Patten, Stephanie Chieffo, Aric Patten and his wife, Amanda, and Phillip Patten; and one great-granddaughter, Samantha Patten.
The family of Doris would like to express their gratitude to all the nurses and aides at the Golden Living Center in East Stroudsburg for the wonderful care provided to their beloved mother and grandmother.
