Ian Michael McFate, 13, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines due to injuries sustained in a vehicle versus pedestrian accident. Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 8, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 900 Park St, Tama with Pastor Brian Oliver of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation wil l be held Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 3-8 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama.

Ian was born on May 6, 1999, in Overland Park, KS, the son of Mark and Christine (McCune) McFate. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Toledo. Ian was an 8th grader at the South Tama Middle School w here he was active in band, chorus, and cross country. Ian played STC Rec tennis, golf and soccer. He was a member of the American Taekwondo Association in Toledo. Ian was very much looking forward to attending high school and participating in the various activities.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Delmar and Edna Mae (Mikkelson) McFate.

Survivors include his parents, Mark and Chris of Toledo; his sisters, Morgan of Cedar Falls, and Mackenzie at home; his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Barb McCune of Toledo; his aunts and uncles, Deb and Doug Rassler of Palo, Mark McCune and Janice Coleman of Cedar Rapids, Ron and Lucy McFate of Tama, Danna and Wayne Peterson of Spring Hill, FL, and Mar lene and Dennis Burkheimer of Ames; his cousin, Megan Rosenberger and several other cousins.

Paul William Pagel, Jr., was born on 1 May 1921 in Riceville, Howard, Iowa. He and Beulah Estella McFate were married on 16 December 1943 in Washington, District of Columbia.1 He died on 1 May 2010, at age 89, in Grinnell, Poweshiek, Iowa. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Toledo, Tama, Iowa.1
Paul William Pagel, Jr., was a Paper Mill Employee.1 Paul W. Pagel Jr., age 89, of Tama died on his birthday Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Grinnell Regional Medical Center in Grinnell. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Private interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo at a future date. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 3 from 5 to 7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Paul was born on May 1, 1921 in Riceville, Iowa, the son of Paul W. and Marion (Ellis) Pagel. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Tama through the eighth grade. He then attended Tama High School and graduated in 1939. While in high school, Paul was active in football, basketball, and baseball. After graduation he began working for the Tama Paper Mill. Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942. He was united in marriage to Beulah E. McFate on December 16, 1943 in Washington, D.C. Paul served during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. Paul saw duty in the Euro pean Theatre and the South Pacific. Paul's time in the Navy was spent aboard the USS Samuel Chase APA-26. He returned to the paper mill in 194 5 and retired from there in 1985. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Tama American Legion, and was a life member of the VFW.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and wife, Beulah in 1996.

Survivors include one brother, Ed Pagel of Sacramento, CA; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Virginia Wiese of Toledo.

Milo J., 'M.J.', 'Grandpa' Kizer, age 91, of High Valley, died July 10, 2 014 at his home surrounded by family and caregivers. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Union Cemetery. The family requests casual dress for the graveside. A celebration of life will be held in October.

M.J. was born on November 15, 1922, the son of Milo W. and Zona Z. (Tahash) Kizer in Long Beach, California. After he graduated from high school he married his high school sweetheart Bettty J. Dungan on December 22, 1942. He joined the Coast Guard during World War II and was stationed out of Newport, Oregon. After his discharge he went to work as a fireman for the City of Long Beach, California in April of 1945. He rose to the rank of Captain and retired in December of 1972. They moved to High Valley in 1973 to ranch, farm, mechanic, build, and according to M.J. work harder than he ever had. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church . In 1979 he started the Sparks AWANA Club and was the director for 35 years. The kids in the club called him 'Grandpa'. He was a Prayer Warrior. His wife preceded him in death in 1983. When younger he enjoyed fishing, hiking, boating and camping with his family. He cherished spending time with them. M.J. loved discussing the Lord, His Goodness, and His Soon Return. He accepted Jesus as Savior at an early age, his love for Jesus was evident, his goal was to see others come to know Jesus in a personal way, he was dedicated to his Lord and Savior, his family and friends. His favorite verse was John 3:16.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Karen and George Tattersall of High Valley and Keith and Paulette Kizer of Ripon, California ; grandchildren, Tamara Tattersall of La Grande, Aaron and Tracie Tattersall of Parker, Colorado, Keisha Vandeveer of Oakdale, California, Don Hawkins of Oakdale, California, Dan Hawkins of Ceres, California; great-grandchildren, Kizer Vandeveer and Mitch and Travis Holman; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by sister, Hester Lindsay.

In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Union Baptist Church AWANA Clubs. The family wishes to thank Grande Ronde Hospital Home Care Staff and Services, Dr. Montee and staff, Dr. Clarke and staff , Union Ambulance Services, Union Volunteer Fire Department, faithful caregivers, family and friends, faithful prayer warriors and 35 years of Sparky Clubbers.
