Biography

Walter Johns Wintermute was born on 6 October 1907 in Newton, Sussex, New Jersey.1,2 He and Winifred Rose Murray were married on 1 October 1934 in Roosevelt, Newark, New Jersey. He died on 30 January 2003, at age 95, in Annandale, Hunterdon, New Jersey.2 He was buried in Ferncliff Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hartsdale, Westchester, New York.3,4

ANNANDALE - Walter J. Wintermute died Jan. 30, 2003 at Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township. He was 95. Born in Newton, the son of John and Anna Johns Wintermute, he lived in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. before moving to Annandale in 1978. Mr. Wintermute attended Newark College of Engineering. He was a telephone repairman for New York Telephone for 42' years. Mr. Wintermute was a member of the Lions Club in Dobbs Ferry. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. His wife Winifred Wintermute, and his brother William O. Wintermute died earlier. He is survived by two daughters, Theresa Parthemore of West Bath, Maine and Anita Gardner of Stillwater; four grandchildren; and Stella Garbus, his companion of many years. Interment was in Newton Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home in Clinton. He was a Telephone Repairman- New York Telephone in Telephone Company between 1930 and 1972.5,3
