Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Family Funeral Services, Reynolds. Burial is in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Eliza Lions Club, where he was a member.
He was born July 18, 1918, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Harry and Myrtle Crow Alexander. He married Dorothy Rowett in Treasure Island, San Francisco, Calif.
He was raised and educated in St. Louis. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy, Rolla, Mo. He was a general engineer retiring in 1975 from the Rock Island Arsenal after 30 years of government civil service.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran during WWII serving on the USS Bremerton. He was a member of Summit New Jersey Methodist Church -- volunteer and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He enjoyed attending auctions, baseball and his good friends.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynette and James Alexander-North, Los Angeles, Calif.; and grandchildren, Alexander James North, Christopher Lin North and Patrick William North. He was preceded by a brother, Edmund.
