Biography

Frederick Isaac Snover was born on 11 September 1743 in Sussex County, New Jersey.1,2 He and Anna Margaret Waldruff were married about 1762 in Franklin, Sussex, New Jersey.2 He and Margaret Crater Krater were married before 1778.1 He and Elizabeth West were married on 5 January 1804 in Sussex County, New Jersey.1,3 He died on 14 January 1830, at age 86, in Hardwick Township, Warren, New Jersey.1,2 He was buried in Old Stillwater Cemetery, Stillwater, Sussex, New Jersey.1,2
Frederick Isaac Snover was a Constable. Civil War- Continental Army.
From The Wintermute Family History:
Frederick was listed January, 1783, as being a member of the Reformed Association od Hardwick. He served as constable for Hardwick Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, in 1776. He is on record for supplying services and supplies during the American Revolution in 1780 and 1781. George Windemuth named Frederick Snover as one of "my trusty friends".

From "The Snover Family" compiled by Edward P. Stone Sr., Amundsen Pub.Co., 1976, and in the NSDAR Library (information copied and sent to me by James Kerr) - "Frederick Snover was born in America.... The place of his birth, as well as where he received his education, has not yet been determined." "..was a member of the Reformed Association of Hardwick." "Mister Snover was a zealous patriot, and supplied services and supplies during the revolution." Birth and death dates from this book. His 3rd m.was performed by Joshua Swayze, J. P.
Information from Robert Moore, Canada : place of birth - "likely Trappe, PA"
In the History of Sussex and Warren Counties by James P. Snell (pub 1881) Frederick and Jacob settled in Hardwick Township (Now Warren County ) as early as 1735 or 1740. This notation seems to be in error as Frederick was born in Penn in 1743 however the family may have been there as early as 1750 and most certainly by 1763 when Frederick was married. Just who Jacob was is unclear at this time but he was likely Frederick's first cousin, a son of John Heinich Snover The name Schnauber was Anglicized to Snover in 1764. Frederick served in the Continental Army during the Revolution, receiving pay during portions of the period from August 1779 to 1787 (He has been recognized by the DAR) His uncle Georg Philip Wintermute was a Loyalist and his first cousins Philip, John, Peter, Benjamin and Abraham Wintermutes were members of Loyalist regiment "The Butlers Rangers" and were regarded as heroes in the Niagara area of Ontario where they settled after the Revolution. ***Frederick was a constable for Hardwick Township in 1776. Frederick was a member of Hardwick Lutheran Church at Stillwater.
Frederick's will was dated 23 June 1828 and is contained in Warren County Probate Records (G.S. #566,393 No. 1920)

From the Gladwin County Record --- June 16, 1943
SERVICES SUNDAY FOR MRS. U. G. REYNOLDS
Funeral services were held June 13, at Fenton, Mich., for Mrs. U. G. Reynolds, 78, who died in Flint June 11, 1943. Lydia Eleanor, daughter of James Harvey and Isabella A. Davis was born in Davidsburg, Michigan, Sept. 7, 1864. She became interested in church work at an early age and played the church organ for several years. She was married in Jan. 4, 1883, to Ulysses Grant Reynolds and resided on an Oakland county farm for a few years. There, a daughter, Nina was born. Soon after the family moved to Detroit for five years and thence to Washington Territory for two years, then back to Chicago, where a son, J. H. Davis, was born.
Mr. Reynolds' business soon took him to Indianapolis where a daughter Marcella A. was born. In 1902 Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds moved their family to Gladwin county where his father had taken up a tract of land. Here they resided for many years, and made many friends.
When Mr. Reynolds moved to Gladwin City they transferred membership to the Gladwin Methodist Episcopal Church in which their membership has remained. Mrs. Reynolds had not been in good health for several years and had found it necessary to give up residence in Gladwin. Through it all she had been a patient sufferer, not thinking so much of her own ills, as the need of helping others. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and a good friend to those who knew her.
Surviving are her husband, U. G. Reynolds, now in Flint; two daughters, Mrs. J. C. Davis of Detroit and Mrs. M. M. Moore of Ayre, Ont., a son J. H. D. Reynolds and two great grandsons; one sister, Mrs. W. R. Davis of Fenton, Mich.; and two brothers, J. L. Davis and Myron H. Davis of Boise, Idaho.
