4 Shirley M. Hay, 86, died Friday, Nov. 2, in Keene, N.H., with her family at her side. An East Stroudsburg native, Shirley had split her residency between Keene and Berwick since 2003.
She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Hay II, on Sept. 28, 1985.
Born on Sept. 26, 1921, in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Ford and Florence M. (Noack) Predmore.
For many years Shirley was a world-class retail clerk at A.B. Wyckoff's. She also was a secretary for Justice of the Peace Herb Bonser and at the Pocono Hay-ven. After her retirement, Shirley was a committed volunteer for several charitable and civic organizations, including Red Cross blood drives and election boards.
Shirley enjoyed doing handwork of all kinds and was an exceptional, generous knitter.
She attended Keene Unitarian Universalist Church and East Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church.
Shirley is survived by a son, William H. Hay III and his wife, Susan, of Keene, N.H.; a daughter, Kathy H. Bohl and her husband, Don, of Berwick; a sister, Kathryn L. Herr of Wilmington, Del.; and a brother, Ford J. Predmore of Resica Falls. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Heather A. Hughes-Cote, Sean P. Hughes, Erin H. Bohl, Tyson R. Bohl, Justin W. Bohl and Reilly A. Hay; several nieces and nephews; and her five wicked-cute great-grandchildren, Austin Hughes, twins Kate and Ryan Hughes, Adam Molick and Reese Cote. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Betty Warner.
Family and friends are invited to a calling period from 10 to 11 a.m. Fri., Nov. 9, at the Lanterman and Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery, East Stroudsburg.
