John Franklin Tanner was born on 8 April 1911 in Thornhurst, Lackwanna, Pennsylvania.2,3 He and Grace Lillian Predmore were married on 7 May 1932 in Stroudsburg, Monroe, Pennsylvania. John F. Tanner, 69, of Stroudsburg, R.D. 4, died Thursday in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of Grace L. (Predmore) Tanner, at home.

Born in Thornhurst, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Bellis) Tanner. He was a life long resident of the area and was employed as a maintenance man by the Borough of Stroudsburg for 13 years and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for 13 years.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, Stroudsburg.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor (Francis) Brunner of Stroudsburg, R.D. 5 and Mrs. Carol (Leo) Halstead of Stroudsburg, R.D. 7; four sons, John W., Sr., of Stroudsburg, Luke W., of Stroudsburg, Glenn J. of East Stroudsburg and Edward F. of Reeder; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Hopple of Saylorsburg and Mrs. Mary Martz of Stroudsburg; 26 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Services will by held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Daniel G. Warner Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Watson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Hills Memorial Gardens, East Stroudsburg. Viewing will be on Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jane E. Predmore, 83, a resident of Pleasant Valley Manor in Hamilton Township and formerly of East Stroudsburg, died on Friday, June 1, at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. She was the widow of Robert M. Predmore, who died June 6, 2003.

Born on April 18, 1924, in East Stroudsburg, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Jennie (Repsher) Mery and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County.

She worked in housekeeping at East Stroudsburg University for 26 years and was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church in East Stroudsburg.

Surviving are a son, Stephen R. Predmore and his wife, Susan, of East Stroudsburg; two granddaughters, Jodi Pustay of East Stroudsburg and Shelli Keller of Allentown; two step-grandhildren, Steven Clark of Henryville and Pamela Hardy of Stroudsburg; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Pustay, Allison Putsay, Rachel Keller and Andrew Keller; two step- great-grandchildren, Sarah Hardy and Ashley Pustay; a brother, John Mery of East Stroudsburg; a sister, Elaine Swink, a resident at Pocono Valley Health Care Center in Cherry Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Mutchler and Blanche McNeil; and a brother, Raymond Mery.

There will be a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tusday, June 5, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brenda J. Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery in East Stroudsburg.

The family requests that memorial remembrances be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 25 Lackawanna Ave. East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
