3 Karl Grover, well known and highly esteemed in Estherville, died yesterday morning at the W.W. Osberg home, where he had resided from the lakes this summer. Mr. Grover had been recently pensioned from his duties as special agent with the Rock Island because of ill health and had been aware for some time that he had not long to live. He was stricken with a serious ailment while employed at Delhart, Texas, by the railroad company.
Born at Newton, N.J. on October 8, 1890, Mr. Grover enlisted in the United States army as a boy of 14. He saw service in the Phillippines and in China and was in the latter country when the World War broke out.
He took his discharge from the army on June 3, 1919 and was married that fall to Miss Marie O'Halloran, whom he had met while she was a nurse at Camp Dodge.

Three children were born to them Mary now 17, of Stevens Point, Wis.; Betty 16, Cedar Rapids and John 14, Gainsville, Florida. The family has been scattered since Mr. Grover's illness.
On June 10, shortly after leaving army service, Mr. Grover took employment at Cedar Rapids as special agent. He was at Estherville for 14 years, then moved to Bureau, Ill., where Mrs. Grover passed away. He later on March 28, 1935 was married to Miss Barbara Higgins of Washington D.C., formerly of Estherville.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 10 o'clock from St. Patrick's Catholic church. Interment will be made at Bureau. Mrs. Grover, Miss Betty, Mrs. Osberg and Mrs. Ramsey will accompany the remains there.
Pallbearers are Art Williamson, W.E. Deming, Irwin Nichols, L.H. Minks, Archie Bixby and Elmer Jackson.
