Jacob F. Snover was a Farm Laborer.4 U.S. Army-Civil War- 29 Aug 1863.3 Civil War Union Soldier. He enlisted as a Private in Company M, 2nd New Jersey Volunteer Cavalry on August 29, 1863. Along with Private Thomas Johnson of Company D and Private John Callahan of Company H, he was executed at Memphis, Tennessee on June 10, 1864, after being convicted by a general court martial of rape and robbery. On March 12, 1864 the three men broke into the residence of Margaret J. Brooks in Shelby County, Tennessee, violated her repeatedly and stole $250 from her. They were soon captured by Union provosts, and, after conviction, were killed by a firing squad outside of Fort Pickering while the entire Fort's garrison was assembled in a three sided square, and thousands of Memphis residents were watching in a crowd. Private Snover, a resident of Warren County, New Jersey, had a wife and 6 children.

Biography

Lucinda T. Dally was born in April 1833 in New York.1,2 She and Abraham (Abram) W. Snover were married about 1859.1,2 She died on 28 June 1933, at age 100, in Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas.1,3 She was buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas.3
Lucinda Snover was living with Oliver Branson, a nephew, in the 1910 Kansas Census.
