Mrs. Doris E. Heavener, 69, of 2049 Arndt's Drive, Forks Township, died Friday in her home. She was the widow of Melvin N. Heavener.

She worked at the former Fredwill Co., Easton, for more than 30 years before retiring in 1980.

Born in Tatamy, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Emma (Brown) Milburn.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Doris Buchman, and a son Daryl both of Palmer Township; two brothers, Clifford of Easton and Lewis Vernon of Belfast; three sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Haydu of Forks Township, Mrs. Evelyn Colver of Wilson and Mrs. Sadie Woran of Easton, and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Strunk Funeral Home, 2101 Northampton St., Wilson. A calling hour will precede the services.

TECUMSEH: Mary F. Heavener, 79, of Tecumseh died Monday, May 24, 2004, at Arbor Hospice in Ann Arbor.

She was born June 29, 1924, to Harry and Phoebe (Kidder) Shea in Tecumseh. On Sept. 17, 1946, she was married to Arling R. Heavener and he preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1978.

Mary was employed as an assembler by Ford Motor Company at the Rawsonville Plant, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary in Tecumseh, the Herrick Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of the Eagles Lodge, where she was a Golden Eagle. Mary enjoyed traveling, ceramics, sewing, playing cards and spending time at the Tecumseh Community Center. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Mary is survived by two sons, Arling R. (Mary) Heavener II of Benton Harbor and Wilson E. (Maria) Heavener of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter, Cheryl Heavener of Ypsilanti; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 26, at the Tecumseh Chapel of Couture-Handler Funeral Homes from 4-7 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, May 27, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Tecumseh.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice or to the charity of the donor's choice.
