Stanley R. Bunn, 87, formerly of Harveys Lake and Luzerne, died Friday at the
Skilled Care Center of the Masonic Home, ElizabethtownBorn in Kingston Township, he was the son of the late Albert and Gertrude DeRemer Bunn. He had resided in Elizabethtown for the past 14 months.
He formerly lived in Wayne for 12 years, and also in Luzerne and at Harveys Lake.
Prior to retiring many years ago, he was involved with the sale of welding equipment and supplies. He was a Pennsylvania certified welder.
He formerly served for 10 years in the Marine Corps, and was discharged as a staff sergeant. He was a past commandant of the George R. Newitt Detachment of the Marine Corps League of Kingston.
He formerly served as Pennsylvania State Commandant of the Marine Corps League, and had served as the National Chief of the Marine Corps League, Devil Dogs.
Involved in local Republican politics, he ran unsuccessfully as a candidate for Congress.
He was a member of the Luzerne United Methodist Church. He was also a life member of the American Welding Society. He also belonged to Kingston Lodge 395, F&AM; Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; and Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are his wife, the former Sarah Robbins, also a guest at the Masonic Home; son, Richard L., Berwyn; sister, Melvina Gray, Bunker Hill; grandchildren, Richard L. Bunn Jr., Susan L. Bunn and David C. Bunn; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the Hugh B. Hughes and Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort.
Interment will be in Forty Fort Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday; and from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday.
Masonic services will be 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
