John Joseph Doyle Jr., 71, Benedict, died Sunday at Fredonia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Dunsford Funeral Home chapel in Augusta. Interment will follow at Brownlow Cemetery, near Leon.

Born April 5, 1902 at Green Bay, Wisc., he married the former Opal Kay Semisch on March 4, 1933 at Wichita. She survives him. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters.

Survivors include three brothers, Tom of Wichita, Dan of Benedict and Burt of Claflin, Kan.; five sisters, Mrs. H. E. Prigmore of Leon, Mrs. Grace Davis of Wichita, Mrs. Madge Edwards of Augusta, Mrs. Rose Larrick of Overland Park and Mrs. Catherine Scott of Augusta.

Dunsford Funeral Home, Augusta has charge of the arrangements.

Walter Barton Jones was a Garage Battery Man.2 Walter became depressed in 1972-73. He had constant pain in his lower back which bothered him most of his adult life. Sometime during this period he elected to confess to his wife that before their marriage and after High School, when he was a young man, he had gone out to North Dakota to stay with a relative...and work. I believe that relative was uncle Bert Kuhl. While there, he got a young woman pregnant. Somehow he got out of this situation and returned to his Michigan home. I only heard bits of this story after my mother's death. His sister, Grace, said that she did not know about this...but their father had gone out, by train, to N.D. to bring Walter home. Hearing this confession in these later years upset his wife, Nellie, and relations between them were strained. The combination of this strain and his back pain were too much for him...and on May 26, 1973 he went on his front porch , laid down on a cot, put a gun to his head and ended his life.
