92, formerly of the Canton and Troy areas, went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 14, 2010, from the Bradford County Manor. Sylvia Marie Wilkins was born in Gillett, PA on January 14, 1918, a daughter of the late Lloyd G. and Ruby K. (Seymour) Wilkins. On March 14, 1940, Sylvia married Richard E. "Dick" Lyon in Mainesburg. Sylvia was a woman who was happy when keeping busy. In addition to caring for her family and home, Sylvia was a great help on the family dairy farm near Alba. She later worked at GTE Sylvania Electric in Towanda for over 27 years until retiring in 1980. She was active in the GTE Sylvania Women's Club and won awards for workplace improvement suggestions. Sylvia loved her Lord and church, often saying, "My church work is my joy". Her church memberships included the LeRoy Independent Baptist, the Bakerburg First Baptist, Canton's First Baptist and Canton's Faith Baptist Churches. She served in various church offices and sang in the church choir. Sylvia loved music; in her earlier years, she played piano, accordion and banjo. She was proud of her family and their wellbeing was very important to her. She enjoyed gardening, shopping and reading. Her philosophy in life was "Reap what you sow, judgment day is coming for all". For over 10 years, Dick and Sylvia enjoyed spending part of the year in Sebring, Florida. Surviving are her daughter, Norma (Randy) Spencer of Glenwood, Maryland; her grandson, Jeff Case of Sherburne, NY; a son-in-law, Larry Case of Troy; sisters, Marcella (Bob) Reed of Alberta, Canada, Gloria (Rev. Ken) Marple of Sylvania and Marjorie (Nathan) Blow of East Smithfield; a brother-in-law, Jim (Doris) Lyon of Troy; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to Richard, her husband of 65 years, Sylvia was predeceased by her daughter, Virginia Case; a grandson, Scott Spencer; and siblings, Arlene Wilkins, Lucille Morgan and Lloyd Wilkins, Jr. Calling hours are 6 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 17, at Pepper Funeral Home, Springbrook Dr. in Canton. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 with Rev. Ronnie Bly officiating. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Bradford County Memorial Park. Richard E. "Dick" Age 89, of Canton, PA, passed away on Friday morning, September 2, 2005, at Towanda Memorial Hospital's Skilled Nursing Unit. Richard was born on Armenia Mountain December 30, 1915; a son of the late Harry and Mary (Ecroyd) Lyon. He grew up in Sylvania and graduated from Troy High School. On March 14, 1940 Dick married Sylvia Marie (Wilkins) in Mainsburg. They were blessed with 65 wonderful years together and raised two daughters. In earlier years Richard and Sylvia operated a dairy farm near Alba. He later worked as a truck driver for H. Rockwell & Son of Canton for over 38 years until retiring in 1980. After retiring they spent their winters in Sebring, Florida, where he kept busy by working as a handyman. Richard's life was guided by his faith in the Lord. He was an active member and deacon of the LeRoy Independent Baptist Church. He was also a charter member of the Old Covert Church on Armenia Mt. and in earlier years was active with the First Baptist Church and Faith Baptist Church, both of Canton. A friendly and kind man, Dick was dearly loved by his family and many friends. He was a knowledgeable horseman and enjoyed his horses for many years. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia "Ginny" and Larry Case of Sylvania, Norma and Randy Spencer of Glenwood, MD; a grandson, Jeffrey Case of Sherburne, NY; a brother and sister-in-law, James (Doris) Lyon of Troy; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Mr. Lyon was predeceased by a grandson, Scott Spencer. Friends may call 6-7 p.m. Sunday at the Pepper Funeral Home, Canton. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with pastor Bill Pepper and Ronnie Bly officiating. Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Richard's name may be made to Covert Church, RR1, Box 368, Troy, PA 16947 or the LeRoy Baptist Church, RR1, Box 225, Canton, PA 17724.

Age 87, a resident of The Green Home, formerly of Mainesburg, PA, died on Thursday, May 3, 2007, in Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Lucille was born on September 26, 1919 in Mainesburg, PA, a daughter of Lloyd and Ruby (Seymour) Wilkins. She was the wife of George "Nelson" Morgan for 62 years. Lucille assisted her husband in dairy farming and working with her husband in the woods. She was a member of the Austinville Union Church and the Troy Grange for over 50 years. Lucille enjoyed sewing, the missionary society, crocheting, bird watching, traveling, site seeing, singing and playing music. She was a very compassionate person who opened her home to the needy and less fortunate. Lucille is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Peggy Morgan of Mainesburg, PA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne "Vonnie" and Larry Smith, Ruby and George Blow, Linda and Floyd McCaslin all of Mainesburg, PA; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia Lyons of Troy, PA, Rev. Arlene Wilkins of Florida; Marjorie and Nathan Blow of East Smithfield, PA, Marcella and Robert Reed of Canada, Gloria and Rev. Kenneth Marple of Troy, PA; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Wilkins of Florida, Irma and Fay Morgan of Troy, PA; one brother-in-law, James Morgan of Troy, PA; thirteen grandchildren and thirty-four great-grandchildren. Lucille was predeceased by her husband, George "Nelson" Morgan, Jr. on February 27, 2003; and a brother, Lloyd Wilkins Jr. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 5, 2007, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jacquelyn A. Arelene Norma Wilkins, 86, of Sebring, Fla., died Aug. 20, 2009 in Sebring.
She was born in Troy, Pa.. on June 17, 1923, daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruby K. (Seymour) Wilkins. She moved to Sebring in 1976 from Port Huron, Mich.
She attended Practical Bible College in Binghamton, N.Y. and co-founded a Gospel Team traveling extensively for 32 years before retiring to Sebring. She and her friends Joyce Kaufmann and Lois Walsh have continued their ministry through correspondence in Bible Studies known as "Mailbox School of the Bible". Arlene was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church, Sebring. Her survivors include her sisters, Gloria and Rev. Ken Marple of Troy, Sylvia Lyon of Troy, Marjorie and Nathan Blow of East Smithfield, Marcella and Robert Reed of Ponoka, Alberta, Canada; sister-in-law, Shirley Wilkins of Fla.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arelene was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Lucille Morgan; and brother Lloyd Wilkins.
Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Austinville Union Church, Austinville, Pa. Her service will follow at 7 p.m. with her brother-in-law Reverend Ken Marple officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, in Glenwood Cemetery Troy, Pa.
